A Tuesday afternoon roof fire at the D C Henry residence on W Findlay Street was contained by local residents using garden hoses from Rev. Paul R. Clouser and Harry Bristoll before the Carey fire department arrived. A three foot square area burned. sparks from the chimney were ruled the cause. Malcolm Blue and Danner Clouser, both six, were first to see the blaze and alert the family. Danner then warned his own family, while his ten year old brother Dick fetched a hose and fought the flames.

Injured county road employee hurt on Crane Craw township line
Jerome Weinandy, a county road employee, was severely injured Tuesday when his clothing was caught in a revolving cross bar while operating a county grader on the Crane Crawford township line road north of town. His clothing tore from him and he suffered severe abrasions and minor bruises. he received medical care and was later sent home to Carey.
