Clarence E Shriner of Cincinnati urged more leaders for the Harding Area Council as 100 Scouters gathered at the Harding Hotel Mariow last Thursday. He highlighted the National Jamboree in Washington DC in August and predicted a large Scout turnout.

Dr Carnes Addresses Kiwanis Meeting on Maya Ruins

Dr W Stuart Carnes of Canton, noted lecturer and archaeologist, spoke to the Kiwanis club at Pilgrim House about the lost cities of the Mayas in the Yucatan and ruins of an ancient civilization south of the Gulf of Mexico a thousand years before Columbus. He concluded as the third Lyceum lecture at the high school auditorium.

Deaths travel to Indianapolis after brother’s sudden illness

Mrs. F. W. Howard and her son Clyde Howard left Friday for Indianapolis following the sudden death of Mrs. Howard’s brother John Henry. Henry died after a short illness with pneumonia. He was 74 years old.

Farm Bureau Meeting Considers Redistricting County

Crawford Ridge Farm Bureau met at Moose hall to vote on redistricting Wyan dot county into four parts, each with six meetings annually in Upper Sandusky, with six additional Carey meetings conditionally approved. Car Sideswiped In Ditching Night Stoppage

M C Reynolds of W Findlay Street was struck by a hit and run driver while returning from work at Fostoria. A second car sideswiped his vehicle near Springville, pushing it into a ditch and nearly demolishing the car. Reynolds escaped injury.

Ohio announces a new 3 percent sales tax to start Sunday January 27 with vendors required to obtain licenses by January 19. Reappoint Col Black and West in Ohio highway agency

John Jaster Jr state highway director announces reappointment of Col Lynn Black as superintendent of the State Highway Patrol and Frank West as registrar of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Black has led the patrol since late 1933 and West has directed the motor vehicles bureau for eight months. Dreitzler of Fostoria is named state highway purchasing agent after two four year terms as Seneca County commissioner.

Car Crash In Fog Injures Ralph Ogg Near Carey

Sunday evening around 7 00 Ralph Ogg received cuts and bruises after his car hit a telephone pole while avoiding a truck without rear lights. The wreck occurred west of Carey as he was returning from Findlay where he and his wife and daughter Patty had spent the weekend with Mrs S Egbert. Mrs Ogg and Patty planned to stay a few days longer.

Death of L. T. Upton in Sycamore

Relatives report the sudden death of L T Upton at 5 30 p m at his Sycamore home from a heart attack. formerly of Pittsburgh he married Mrs Adda Michaels of Sycamore on December 4 1932. Mrs Upton left Sycamore yesterday with the remains for Pittsburgh where funeral and burial services will be held Friday.

Automobile Burned Near Lovell Injures Family

Last Friday at about 6 00 pm the Ford carrying Mr and Mrs Wesley Bishop and their son Billy near Lovell burst into flame. The car was completely destroyed but the occupants escaped with their lives while traveling to Upper Sandusky.

Relic Display At Institute Attracts Community Interest

The community institute sponsors an antique display with a larger room this year and a quilt show featuring oldest to modern designs. Cash prizes of 50c and 25c will be awarded for top displays and embroidery work with categories for various quilt types and bedspreads. Drop-off is at the vocational agriculture rooms in the high school on Monday February 4 and exhibits will be guarded day and night to ensure safety.
