News from Monday evening shows the Y Teens group with guest speaker Mr. AWentling discussing scholarship as excellence in any field. Pamphlets on Ohio colleges and scholarships were distributed. Plans for a Teen dance on Feb 25 were set with committee chairs to report at the next DEX meeting. A white elephant sale was planned for the next gathering.
Lucile Shornton was chosen for the Courtesy Award for the week ending January 14. She is the daughter of Marguerite Shornton and plans a nursing career after completing high school.
Miss Dorothy Throssall of the State Health Department visited Carey schools on Tuesday January 11 inspecting the lunch operation. Her report commended cafeteria staff for excellent meals and sanitary operations. She then met with the Elementary School faculty to discuss methods for teachers to promote better eating habits among students.
The Carey Agriculture Club met Tuesday January 13 with 21 members present. Richard Phillips presided as they discussed attending John Deere Day and Farm and Home Week at Ohio State University in March, and members plan to display crops at the Community Institute.
On December 20 the Carey Y Teen Club visited the Seneca County Children's Home. Each girl paired with a gift for a child, a large gift basket was given to the home, and Santa distributed toys. The program featured Christmas sketches, songs, and clowns, with 35 children ages 1 to 17 at the home run by Seneca County under Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lovens.
Barbara Jacoby and Mrs Hawk organize the season with teams named after hair styles. The Peoples Bank board and officers were re elected at the annual shareholders meeting held January 12. Directors named include George Ash F K Cassel T E Dromgold John S Fox H B Keller Fred Kyis Findlay Herbert Lentier and Howard Snyder with Clayton Twining. Officers listed include Dromgold Ash Snyder Lewis Twining Cul ler Heck and several clerks. Dromgold reported a successful year.
Orville Cook Jr of Waynefield northwest of Carey was elected president of the Auglaine County Aberdeen Angus Breeders Association at the Dec 13 annual meeting in Wapakoneta. He will also serve on the county association’s board of directors for Ohio. Cook co-owns Aberdeen Angus and Shorthorn herds on Milo Shaw farms covering over 600 acres near Wapakoneta and supervises the farms with brother and sister in law William and Mrs. Cook.
Mr and Mrs August Windau receive a letter from their son Cpl John Windau describing a weekend trip with Pfc Earl Erger from Ft Carson Colorado to Santa Fe and Laos New Mexico and Durango Colorado. They faced 30 degree below zero near the Continental Wayide and drove 950 miles returning to Colorado Springs.
State Rep F K Cassel told Carey village officials by long distance call from Columbus that the filing deadline for nominating petitions for the November election is August 10. Officials had confusion after 1953 procedures and Cassel with a Westerville solicitor sought clarifications from Secretary of State Ted W Brown.
The Carey Voverello Federal Credit Union will hold its 5th annual meeting next Sunday at 8 p.m. in Catholic Hall. Officers are to be elected, dividends voted, and reports given by the treasurer and committee chairmen. Dr. I G McDaniel will present pictures from his abroad trip. All members and parishioners are welcome.
Dr. I. G. McDaniel will show slides and movies from his African hunting trip at the Methodist Men dinner meeting. The event begins 6 30 p.m. January 27 at the church with pictures starting at 7 15 p.m. Reservations are available by phone.
Mr and Mrs Forest Crislip recently moved from Findlay to a four room frame house with one bath located 3 miles west of Carey on Route 15 The residence is a new home in the countryside and marks a family relocation.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bloom depart Sunday for Miami Florida to stay with their son and his family Mr. and Mrs. George W Bloom and daughter Marcia for two weeks.
Since his return Dr McDaniel has been in popular demand with groups throughout the area. Eye on Dede evening event drew attendance from the local community and increased interest in the Hutch basement venue.
Local Soroptimist and Jaycees group urge readers to support the March of Dimes by attending a Thursday night show on January 27 between 7 and 8. Mothers had submitted only seven volunteers to last week's appeal and more help is needed. Charles Reed Jr and Russell Myers lead the effort in Upper Sandusky with container tubes distributed across the district to collect donations.
All Wyandot county dairy farmers are urged to attend an all day Dairy Clinic in the courthouse assembly room on Thursday Jan 27. The program will cover cattle diseases feed handling and a vote on supporting a Ring testing program for brucellosis due to recent cases in the county.
Sfc. Wilford J. Clouse son of Mrs. Dorothy Thom of South Vance Street was promoted to his present rank effective ran. 7 He is serving in Baumholder Germany where he has been stationed two years Sgt Clouse has been in the Army eight years half of that time spent in Japan
The Crawford Ridge Home Demonstration group met last Thursday at Mrs. Orville Wohlgamuth home near Carey to discuss Looked Meals from the Freezer. Leaders were Mrs. Chester Vogel and Mrs. Wohlgamuth with attendees including Mrs. Walter Gottfried Miss Rosa Summit Mrs. Charles Watters Mrs. Lawrence Orians Mrs. Chester Walter Mrs. Helen Thomas Mrs. Herman Derr and Mrs. Gerald Collet.
The William Margraf family moves from north of Carey and more recently near Ravada to a 160 acre farm west of Fostoria rented from Harry Seedon. They now reside at 25 Route 1, Fostoria.

The All G Blue Angels win two more games defeating Fostoria St Wen Delin and Upper Sandusky St Peter s. Jan 8 action saw a 51 5v close finish as the Angels led by 12 entering the fourth before scoring sparingly. Tom Greer led with Jim Messmer and Mike Pirschel scoring support. January 15 saw a blowout as the Carey led trio built a fast 20 3 early second quarter and St Peter s fell 58 7 with strong scoring across the lineup.
Four individuals appeared cited before Mayor G C Wagner this week on traffic violations. Mary Louise Byrdsong 25 of Columbus lacking a valid license faced a $29.60 fine. Alvis Lee south 20 of Yoler Ky cited for no operator’s license with $29.60 due. David C Denney 17 Hindlay pleaded guilty to driving 45 mph in a 35 mph zone and no muffler with an $18.60 fine and case transferred to juvenile court. Thomas Macnie 19 failed to register a truck with $14.60 fine.
Wm. H. Bill Hunter recently completed four years service in the U S Air Force has purchased Pfau's Restaurant from Mr and Mrs Don E Pfau and will take possession Friday New hours will range from 6 am to 11 pm with plans to serve breakfasts The restaurant closed yesterday for inventory and will reopen at 6 am Friday Bill is the son of Mr and Mrs Don Hunter of East North Street.
A supper and dance to raise funds for the March of Dimes is planned for Sunday January 30 at the Moose hall. Dinner at 530, dancing 8 to 11. Tickets available from lodge members with proceeds going to the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis.
Field examiners will be at the court house in Upper Sandusky January 27 to assist vendors with their sales tax reports for the six month period ending December 31. Reports must be filed by January 31 and a report is required even if no sales occurred between July 1 and December 31, 1954. Vendors should bring all records needed to answer questions on the tax return.
Mr and Mrs Paul Powell and daughters Paula and Caroy moved Monday to their newly remodeled farm home 5 1/2 miles northeast of Carey. The Vance Street residence is now occupied by Daniel Powell, father of Mr Powell, who had been living with Nell Myers.

Mr. and Mrs. Forrest J. Dame celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday at 326 East South Street. Both natives of Carey have lived here most of their lives. Girl Scout Troop 10 met January 10 led by Mrs. Robert McDaniel with Miriam Lerry calling. Members painted spools, read a story, and closed with the Friendship Circle. Officers elected include Betty Harley president and Donna Jean Russell scribe.
Brownie Troop 27 met January 11 at the Municipal building with leader Mrs. Robert Hale. Guest Patty Clark from Intermediate Troop 11 aided at her sister Carla’s birthday party and led the girls in a song and a badge activity. Officers elected: President Claw Laudenslager, Vice-president Adaya Bauer, Scribe Trudy Spicer, Treasurer Linda Turner. The meeting began bookmarks from wigwam sticks and closed with the Friendship Circle.
Abe Senior Scout Troop 17 met with Mrs. Joe Newhard at the Newhard Studio on January 3. President Lucille Kuitzler called the meeting to order with all members present to discuss making favors for the Wyandot County Home and Wyandot Memorial Hospital and to map camping plans.
Intermediate Troop 11 met January 11 with Mrs. Donald Clark. A trip to the Clark farm focused on forming the first band in formation on pigs and other farm animals to fulfill requirements for the mammal badge. Judy Lukner.
Browne Troop 13 met with Mrs. John Reynolds at the Municipal building January 12. A ceremony honored each Brownie as she received her wings to advance from Brownie to Girl Scout. Mrs. Joe Newhard assisted in the event.
A rummage sale is planned at the Church of God on S Vance Street on Wednesday January 26 from 9 AM to 9 PM. Proceeds support church programs and community outreach.
Mayor G. C. Wagner announced on Monday night that Carey village receipts for 1954 totaled 7 441.47 with 353 docketed cases. Revenue came from fines and costs of arrests by village police and sheriffs, state highway patrol, and sheriff's expenses. December receipts totaled 644.97 including one solicitor's permit and various fines. Reports on cemetery funds indebtedness and assets were approved. Building permits issued and bids advertised for pickups and construction materials were noted. Ordinance 461 creating paid vacations for relief firemen passed as an emergency measure. Insurance bids were reviewed with four accepted totaling 1 665.15.
The Wyan dot County Ministerial Association met Monday forenoon in Upper Sandusky chapel. Rev. D. V. Whitenack reviewed If You Marry Outside Your Faith by James A. Pike. Guests included Rev. Herbert M. Frazer of Cincinnati and Rev. Mahton L. Macy of Portland, Ore.
Miss Betty Newton of Ohio Fuel Gas Co. presided at a cooking demonstration for Carey JayCeeJays at their January meeting in the company office. The group voted to aid the Soroptimist Club’s Mothers March for polio foundation. Next meeting set for February 14 with Mrs. Talmadge Huston.
The Creeger Implement Co. 15 hosts John Deere Day on January 27 starting at 10:30 am. Five color farming films will screen for farmers and families, with free tickets distributed to many, and others available at Creeger Co.
Pfc Donald Orians son of Mr and Mrs Vincent Orians of south of Carey arrived home January 11 on a 28 day furlough before reporting to Fort Lewis Washington February 8 for reassignment to the Far East.
