Ohio reports weekly air samples show no lasting radioactivity rise
On Sept 20 1954 Ohio Health Industrial Hygiene Division began statewide air sampling to establish background radioactivity levels and monitor any local buildup from nuclear plants. Over a year, four sites showed no permanent change, temporary spikes after nuclear tests, no statewide differences, and continued monitoring across 27 northwest Ohio counties.

Police Justice Clyde Jenkins levied fines and costs in five cases this week. Floyd Johnson Jr. of Ypsilanti paid a $10 fine for unsafe vehicle operation. Herbert M. At the regular monthly meeting of the executive committee of Goodwill Industries of Toledo, executive secretary Lyle Kurk reported 216 persons were trained and employed in November, including 36 new clients and total wages of $18,657. Among the workers, 40 were in older or special categories such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy, heart disease, amputations, vision and hearing impairments, mental retardation, and other disabilities, with 38 additional non handicapped workers to provide supervision.
