Vanlue electric line reaches Carey Waterworks Park

Vanlue Electric Light Company completed a five mile transmission line to Carey Waterworks Park making Vanlue the first village customer of Carey and adding about one hundred consumers to Carey lines. Guy F Burnap headed engineering and founded the company. The first stockholders meeting on January 9 elected directors J Morehart J M Bright J J Herman E L Plotts and Guy F Burnap with Maglehart as president Bright as vice president Plotts as treasurer and Burnap as secretary.

Bell joint county ditch granted by Wyandot and Hancock counties

At a Findlay meeting of Wyandot and Hancock county commissioners the Bell joint ditch project was granted and February 3 was set as the hearing date for damage and compensation claims.

Death of A. J. Greek at Wharton age 71

A. J. Greek of Wharton died last Sunday from a complication of diseases after six months illness. He was 71 years, 2 months, 26 days old, born in Ridge township. He married Mary Ellen Kime on December 22, 1878, and they had seven children, five of whom survive. He was brother to Jacob Greek of Upper Sandusky and William Greek of this city and had served ten years as watchman at the Big Four railroad crossing in Wharton.

Wyandot Exhibitors Win State Fair Prizes

Wyandot county exhibitors at the state fair secured $146 in prizes. Chas. A. Wentz of Kirby won $120 for a horse, Paul Smith of Upper Sandusky earned $23 on a swine exhibit, and James Yohe of the area collected $3 in the pig club.

Stockholders Meeting at Carey Farmers Cooperative Co.

The Stockholders met at Moose Hall last Thursday afternoon with Ranger as chairman and Geo Shuman as secretary. Prof E J Miller audited the books and reported a profit for the year amid falling prices, urging farm cooperation. Five directors were elected: A G Collet, John S Fox, Alonzo Ogg, Wm Rickle, Frank Bees, joining S M Ranger, A D Lerner, J A Newcomer and A J Ruehle on the board. The directors organized for the year with Collet as president, Ranger as vice president, Newcomer as secretary and Lennert as treasurer.

Local Legion aids veterans with state bonus forms

About 115 men sought help at the American Legion rooms to complete state bonus applications. Four typewriters worked during the busy period, Carey submitting the most correct papers in the county. Heirs of soldiers who died will receive blanks in ten days as Columbus reports that Ohio limits eligibility for parents of deceased soldiers if brothers or sisters exist, requiring heirs at law to receive compensation first.

Carey High Girls Hand Nevada in Tight 13 11 Loss

In a Saturday basketball at the high school auditorium Carey High girls fell 13 to 11 to Nevada after a close game. The Carey boys defeated Nevada 52 to 8 as two regular players were absent for Carey. The final score stood 52 to 8 with Carey dominating the second half.

Revival meetings end after two weeks at United Evangelical Church

Revival meetings at the United Evangelical Church closed Sunday evening with Rev H. W. Randall of Alliance delivering sermons nightly. A large audience attended, many were turned away, about 20 souls were saved, and the events were deemed a success by attendees.

Wednesday morning Ernest Dunn turned from Brown Ave to North Vance street when his auto skidded and one of the rear axles snapped off on the way uptown.

Successful Banquet Hosts Lutheran Gathering

About 400 members and friends of the Lutheran church attended a Father and Son Banquet organized by Wittenberg College Springfield. A chicken dinner, decorated tables, and college yells accompanied talks by Dr B W Zeigler and Dr L B Larimer on Christian education and men for the ministry.

Short Dairy Course Available for Local Farmers

Mr. Miller, agriculture instructor at the local high school, will lead a three week dairying course for community farmers. It begins Monday January 24 at 1:00 p.m. and runs daily for two hours at the regular time, free of charge.

Wreck on Hocking Valley Detours Passenger Trains

A serious wreck on the Hocking Valley occurred last Friday near Lovel three quarters of a mile from the location. Three cars of merchandise two coal cars and a stock car were wrecked with ties torn up for several hundred feet. No injuries were reported. The wrecking train was sent for and passenger trains were detoured via the Pennsylvania and Big Four.

Water Shutoff for Pump Installation Sunday

City water will be turned off Sunday January 22 1922 from 9 a m to 5 p m while new pumps are installed. Zeis and Mitchell have sold the pumps and will carry out the installation.

Kiwanis Carey Club Holds Lively Regular Lunch Meeting

Kiwanis Club of Carey hosts 33 members and four guests at the Galt Restaurant. A quartet sang two numbers including Maggie and a song dedicated to Dr. I. N. Zeis, drawing hearty applause. Speakers from Findlay and Galion gave talks. Next events include a Moose Hall dinner January 31 with Diamond on the Square and agriculture day February 18. The club plans May 1 meeting programs and a January 23 luncheon.

Death of Marion Charles Duffield at age 8

Marion Charles Duffield, son of Willis and Mrs. Duffield of near town, died Monday January 9 of pneumonia after a two week illness. He leaves parents, a brother Paul and sister Dorothy. The funeral was held at Wharton with burial in Wharton cemetery. Mrs. Duffield is a former teacher and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gottier.

Florida fruit delights editor and family

Mrs. George Huff received two boxes of oranges and grapefruit from her sister Mrs. J. D. Larmonth, who wintered in Mt. Dora Florida with four other Findlay ladies. The fruit ripened fully before picking and offers a flavor not found in fruit shipped north.

Dynamite Blast At Stone Quarry Injures Crane Crew

A dynamite explosion at a stone quarry Monday around 8:00 AM occurred when a steam shovel struck undischarged charges, demolishing the dipper. Crane man IHE Updegraff and engineer John Carey, both from nearby towns, escaped with minor facial cuts.

Masonic Club Elects Officers at Annual Frolic

The Masonic Club held its annual frolic Tuesday evening at Fetters' store rooms with a full house. Members enjoyed big cats, billiards, and card games as officers were reelected for another year: Fred Lytle president, Gust Summit vice president, Howard Snyder secretary, and Wm Zahn treasurer.
