Mr and Mrs John Vehrs Sr of 125 Toledo Street marked 50 years of marriage on January 14 1914 in St Peters Catholic Church Upper Sandusky. Relatives from Carey Hancock County and Upper Sandusky joined at a Mass home dinner with a golden cake. The couple has two sons John Jr and Earl and two grandchildren.

The report outlines the High School gymnasium work with floor finishing sanding backboards installed and painting near complete. Remodeling of the old gym shows painting cabinet work ceilings and lighting at about 50 percent, while new gym tasks include floor finishing finish sanding sealing bleach ers installation scoreboards and exit stairs. Classrooms show 75 percent completion on painting ceilings and lighting and the multipurpose room ceiling and north facing primary entrance door are in place.
JCs Hear Guest Appoint Governmental Affairs Committee
Carey Jaycees heard guest speaker William Zierolf of Zierolf Insurance at the American Legion Hall. They named David Myers Michael Ball and Larry Mates to a governmental affairs committee to attend village council sessions and report to the Jaycees. The county health fund totaled 1655.83 from the polio vaccine program to aid families facing illness. Two pairs of glasses were purchased for those unable to buy them. Two boys will again be sent to Buckeye Boys State this summer. Dale Steyer attended as a club guest.

Carey Youth In Critical Condition After Road Crash
Dennis Dale Leichty an 18 year old from Carey is in very serious condition at St. Vincent's Hospital Toledo with a skull fracture and possible brain damage after colliding with a Seneca county highway department dump truck on Route 53 six miles south of Tiffin. Driver Jack Edward Morgan 40 of McCutchenville reported stopping and not seeing the car as it entered the intersection.

Village street crew clears Carey streets after heavy snow
Superintendent George Coakley led crews battling Sunday and Monday snow. The plow broke down, quarry units aided, and illness and vehicle issues delayed progress.
