High School Drama Club Elects Officers in First Meeting
The third Grenades West building pupils, including Marian Patterson and Mary Jo Harris, held a debate in the high school auditorium on Wednesday January 21. The dramatic club elected officers President Jack Heck and Vice President Homer England, secretary treasurer Ducile Kurtz. The club, with 22 members, will split into three groups to present one act plays and meets biweekly under Miss Walters. Glee club officers were chosen: President Orvetta Wentling secretary Helen Beebe and manager Martha Stoody.

At the meeting last Thursday afternoon the Red Cross committee limited clothing donations to children with a teacher note of needs. Adults seeking assistance will be investigated. Food donations will be given to township trustees for distribution. Donations of coats are restricted to men’s overcoats and women’s coats. Carey fire department used smoke masks at Vanlue when an overheated furnace set fire to the Methodist church floor. A bucket brigade delayed a general blaze until Carey arrived. Dense smoke filled the church but masks enabled entry to fight the fire with chemicals. Wharton department aided in saving the church.
