Police Chief Vincent Jacob, local March of Dimes chairman, notes there will be no Mothers March this year. Mailers will reach Carey households and standard donation containers will be placed at local businesses. residents are urged to contribute.

Epiphany Party Held At School by Third Order Franciscans

Nearly fifty members and guests attended the Third Order of St. Francis Epiphany Party and Smorgasbord at Our Lady of Consolation School Hall on Sunday January 8. Father Hubert Kobhinski led a short meeting after reports from the secretary and treasurer. A Shrine Church Mass for the sick and shut-ins was offered December 29. Door prize winners, gift exchanges, and a musical program by Sheila Fietcher and Carla Laudenslager highlighted the event with decorations by Mrs. Harry Myers and a kitchen committee led by Mrs. Ralph Brown and Mrs. Margaret Yost assisted by others.

Our Lady of Consolation basketball opens with a 48 38 win over St Peter's Upper Sandusky. The season features scrimmages and wins against St Wendlins Fostoria St Michael Findlay New Riegel and Carey Junior High with strong showings and a December 10 loss to St Mary's Tiffin. Next week faces St Wendlin s Fostoria on January 14.

Carey Band Mothers Hold January Meeting at High School

Band Mothers of Carey met January 9 in the high school band room with new President Mrs. Sidney Watkins presiding. Minutes were read and approved. Reports from committees covered projects to raise funds for new uniforms. Desks sold netted 328.25 with more available. Mrs Richard pons SI reported few boxes of rep cards and post cards available at Richasons Electric. Casey Jaycee Ettes and Wylandat Co. Lodge 77 FOB contributed 100000 and 20 respectively. Refreshments concluded the evening. all members invited to February meeting.

Rev Chesher Leads Knights of Columbus Talk on Retreat

The Rev Carl Chesher spoke at the Upper Sandusky Council 2050 meeting about the upcoming District 52 Knights of Columbus retreat from January 20 to 22 at Our Lady of Consolation Retreat Center Carey. The event aims to offer sacred study and Christian reflection with Father Chesher and Father Duane Doherty as preacher.

The P. R. S. Club met January 5 at Alice Kinney’s home in Tiffin with nine members present. Mrs. Carl Krout and Mrs. Lawrence Wenner of Upper Sandusky will host the next meeting to review Tinkerbelle by Robert Maury, scheduled for February 2 at Mrs. Robert Mott’s home.

Keith Ward Participates in Operation Red Devil Exercise

Army Private First Class Keith E. Ward 20 son of Mr and Mrs Hager Ward Route 2 Box 38 Carey Ohio took part in Operation Red Devil in December, a major Canal Zone parachute assault exercise. His unit Headquarters Company 508th Infantry 3rd Battalion stationed Ft Kobbe completed six weeks of training in Vietnam style jungle fighting. The exercise ended December 23 and featured live fire squad tactics platoon jungle operations and maneuvers through a jungle reaction course.

Blue Devils Extend Winning Streak To Nine

Carey Blue Devils sweep Riverdale and Arcadia to stretch unbeaten run to nine games. Knights of Pythias held their officer installation on Tuesday evening January 10. New officers include R. F.
