Nine year old Ruth Stroub Fatally Injured by Train
Bernedia Ruth Stroub of 416 High Street Carey sustained fatal injuries Sunday at 11:20 when struck by a New York Central locomotive at the South street crossing. She died 50 minutes later at Findlay hospital after transport by Bristoll’s ambulance. She had attended Sunday school at Memorial Evangelical Church and bought ice cream with her mother’s money before the accident involving a southbound freight and an uncoupled engine arriving from the south.

Cpl. Stanley B. Montague, son of Roy Montague of Carey, was honorably discharged from the U S Army December 20 at Patterson Field Dayton and returned home December 21. He entered in July 1942 and trained at Fort Benjamin Harrison served a year on Terceiras Island in the Azores with the air transport command. He flew from the Azores to Washington in 16 hours and was awarded the PTO ribbon good conduct American Theater Victory medals.

CAPT MAX EIMAS STARTS TERMINAL LEAVE
Capt. Max Eimas returned to the States December 4 from the Philippine Islands and arrived in Carey December 23. He is on terminal leave until April and expects to be separated from the service thereafter. Eimas served four years in the army with two overseas tours in Europe and the Pacific and earned the ETO ribbon with three battle stars, the combat infantry badge, and multiple medals. Mrs. Elmas and children reside with him in the Healey apartment on West North Street.

Fenton Wolfe has been hired to teach geography history and 7th and 8th grade science at Carey High School to replace Walter Davis who resigned to attend Ohio State University this quarter. Wolfe, Findlay High and Heidelberg College graduate, is the son of Russell Wolfe of Upper Sandusky and is married with one son. He served as a 1st lieutenant in the U S Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge December 28 1946, with much time spent in the South Pacific.
