Carey to Host Class B Tournament for 1937

Principal Huffman received a notice from Superintendent Lindmuth that Carey High School will host the Class B sectional tournament for 1937 at the Carey gym. Schools from Hancock to Crawford counties are invited, with 14 teams expected. Two weekends of playoff action lead to a Columbus finals at the Coliseum.

Juniors Elect Ring Committee for Class Rings

The junior class held a Monday meeting to elect a ring committee to choose rings for the final class decision. Virginia Mitchell Gladys Wickham and Clyde Shull were chosen and met with the ring salesman, the style was chosen and rings ordered.

Seniors Plan Graduation Committee and Annual Details

The senior class elected a committee of Helen Wonder Barbara Exline and Harold Shumaker to select commencement invitations for class approval. A staff meeting decided to seek help publishing the annual. Harvey Jacoby was elected alumni editor at a senior class meeting.

New Manager at Carey Mill Named Ted Bowlus

Ted Bowlus of Pemberville assumed the management of the Carey Mill & Elevator Co. on January 1, succeeding P. A. Hendricks. A 1932 Ohio State graduate, Bowlus has worked with his father in Pemberville’s elevator business and the Hobart Bowlus firm also runs a department store. He invites the community to visit and get acquainted, promising a warm welcome.

Carey Community Institute appoints committees for 1937 program

Home from hospital for Jack Green after skull surgery

Jack Green six year old son of Mr and Mrs William Green was brought home from Findlay Home and Hospital where he had New Year Day surgery to remove a sac of pus on his skull caused by a severe cold with ear infection. He remains in serious condition.

Will Grow Corn Hybrids for Seed in Wyandot County

Eleven men from Wyandot county attend the hybrid corn school at Ohio State University to prepare for growing corn hybrids for seed. Three past apprentices Schoenberger, Shane, and Schoenberger will have seed stock to grow about 35 acres in 1937. new apprentices include Stephen, Passet, Pool, Failor, Berg, Hollands head, Walton, and DeBolt for 1937 with aim to meet 1938 local seed demand. It is nearly impossible to secure more hybrid seed this year.

Hucke Arend Couple Wed In Early New Year Ceremony

Miss Lucille Arend daughter of Mrs Margaret Arend and Thomas Hucke son of Mrs Chris Hucke were married New Years morning at 6 15 in Our Lady of Conception Church by Rev Paul Voll Rath. Graham Riley, longtime manager of the Ohio Fuel Gas Co local office, has been transferred to a similar post in North Baltimore. He assumed duties there on Monday, January 4. Jack Montgomery of Findlay becomes the new manager in charge of the local office, and Mr and Mrs Montgomery and their son Jimmy plan to move to Carey soon.

Child undergoes lung drainage operation at Findlay Hospital

Paul Davidson, 3 years old, son of Mr and Mrs Henry Davidson, was taken to Findlay hospital Monday for lung drainage after a pneumonia illness. He had been improving until the operation. Mrs Edmund Pahl and Fr Wenceslaus visited during the procedure.
