The Carey Kiwanis club met at Pilgrim House on Monday evening at 6 15 after the hour change. President R B Hamler, who took office December 21, announced officers including Rev Fr Cyprian Terwoord as first vice president and Ralph Kurtz as second vice president with Dr L K Treece as secretary treasurer. The meeting also listed a full slate of board members and committee chairs for the coming year across areas from Boys and Girls Work to Public Affairs and Vocational Guidance.

Vanlue Panthers Top Carey Cayugas In County Clash
The Vanlue Panthers defeated the Carey Cayugas 30 to 22 at Carey gym after overcoming 15 missed free throws by the Cayugas and a late surge from Carey. Vanlue sank 10 of 21 free throws while Carey struggled at the line. Substitutions for Vanlue included A. Cole and Shull among others. The Vanlue reserves fell 30 to 19 to complete the night.

Shows Must Go On at Star Theatre After Power Glitch
On Christmas Day the Star theatre opened at 1 PM but lights failed one minute before the feature The Devil Is a Sissy. A rectifier problem cut AC to DC for a projector. Paul Hueter flew from Toledo with a replacement and arrived within 1 hour 5 minutes. Edward Hitchcock installed the new rectifier and patrons enjoyed the film that night.
