Numerous families shared holiday meals and gift exchanges from Carey to Bloomville. Lively gatherings included the Lasley, Burks, Hunter, Mullholand, and Smith households with relatives visiting from Bowling Green, Columbus, and Indianapolis.
Noble Ales forfeited a $15 bond after missing a December 31 police court hearing for reckless operation. Officer WR Jacob cited him. Roger Hill, 23, pleaded guilty to speeding and was fined $5 with $860 costs. apprehended by Officer J F Onians.
Knights of Pytmas held their first meeting of 1956 on Tuesday evening. Four nominations and elections of officers are planned for Tuesday January 10 and January 28 at 6:30 PM. A banquet will honor participants in the recent talent show.
The William Wright family of Findlay will conduct services at Oak Grove Church of the Brethren at 1030 am Sunday. Special preaching and music planned. attendance open to all.
Members of Hospital Guild No. 24 of Our Lady of Consolation Church will serve as hostesses at Wyandot Memorial Hospital Saturday and Sunday. The event aims to assist patients and welcome visitors during the weekend.
Members of the Carey police force sincerely appreciate the remembrances received from friends at Christmas time.
Clerk Auditor Zenith McLarkey notes 135 houses issued permits from February 1948 to December 31 1955 with 55 attached garages and 80 houses alone. Other permits cover 99 garages 112 alterations 46 commercial or industrial projects 9 sheds and workshops and 5 moves. Fifteen permits were voided totaling 421. In 1955 75 permits issued including 7 houses only 14 houses with garages 16 garages only 25 alterations 6 industrial or commercial 2 moves and remodeling.

Details include 7-pound to 9-pound newborns with mothers fathers and family ties in Tiffin Fostoria Carey Adrian Wharton and adjacent areas. Names Bar bara Ellen Kenneth Joseph Brenda Ruth and Barbara Ellen highlighted with family connections.
William Waltermire an 84 year old porter at the Hotel Carey was seriously injured Tuesday when his eastbound car was struck by a westbound 1952 Lincoln driven by Elza Needles Jr. Both drivers were en route to work for J F Dibk Co. Waltermire suffered severe head injuries plus a broken neck punctured lung and multiple fractures. He was taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital.
Village workers installed floodlights at the Lakeland Club pond on West Street for skaters. J R Castner advises the lights should be turned off by 11 p m. to avoid nuisance.
Clerk-Auditor Zenith McLarkey reports December meter receipts reached 736.50 the all time high for the month in six years of operation. December 1954 collections were 626.50, while the year’s total fell to 7,273 a record low, due partly to detours on U S 23 and changes at local stores and meters for a new City Service station. Since 1950 meters added 44,770.50 to the village treasury.
Four Upper Sanduskians and a Forest Marine were found guilty in Mayor J Craig Bowman's court of intoxication following a disturbance on Ni Sandusky Avenue at 2:30 am. Deputy Ray Young James McDermott Robert Reamsnyder Stark Leser and Sgt Lloyd Ellcessor faced fines and costs with all fines suspended. Leser was jailed and later suspended from deputy duties for 15 days. Sheriff McAllister suspended Leser, citing intoxication and lack of tact as triggering the trouble.
The Carey Jaycees sponsor a sale of items made by the blind including sweeping boards covers brooms and brushes to be held today. President Don Wilson and members seek wide local response in Carey and nearby areas. Delivery expected about a week after sale.
Mrs Kenneth Wenner formerly Norma Powell passed the State Nurses Board exam and earned a registered nurse certificate. She works at White Cross Hospital in Columbus. Mr and Mrs Wayne Powell and son David and Mrs Forrest Wenner and daughter Rose Ann visited Columbus on Saturday.
Paul Krupp of Muncie Street has been named to the Wyandot county Soldiers and Sailors Relief Committee for a five year term starting December 24. He succeeds George Remlinger as appointed by Judge Russell H. Kear.
Sunday evening 7 30 at the American Legion hall hosts a garden party sponsored by the Aunhary Lunch with prizes for attendees. Public invited.
Lakeland Corp announces skating allowed at Lake land with rules for proper conduct and no property damage.
Village adopts Ordinance No. 472 funding 1956 expenditures at 497,855.50 with emergency status. Water Plant Improvement Fund created and a 10 percent monthly transfer authorized. Police and Fire departments cut to four and two full time staff respectively. New hours, duties, and radio use outlined for both departments. Police court receipts for 1955 totaled 6,437.43 with meter fines redirected to treasury.
Dog Warden warns farmers under a 1954 code revision effective last October that sheep owners cannot claim damages for losses caused by dogs if they themselves keep unlicensed dogs. A 1955 license was not purchased by Robert Koehler of Salem Township, incurring a $10 fine plus $4.70 costs.
Dr E E Ulrich ends his Carey medical practice and will join Drs R Nichols and Carl Winquist in Crosby Minnesota. He closed his Findlay Street office January 1 and plans to leave January 16 with Mrs Ulrich and their children Kristine Karl and Kamla.
Catherine Krupp 14 daughter of Mr and Mrs Paul Krupp of 155 S Muncie Street has skull fractures from a fall two weeks earlier. She remained at Mercy Hospital Tiffin with a 2 inch fracture behind the left ear after an X ray. Doctors expect discharge soon but she will stay in bed two more weeks.
Mrs Ed Michaels of 451 East South Street reported the first robin of the year. She heard singing Sunday but could not locate the bird, and on Monday it reappeared while she was hanging laundry.
Dr. E. E. Ulrich states office is closed and requests contact at his home through January 15.

Yeoman succeeds Thome Wright re-elected Maenle elected after serving by appointment Wenner elected chairman succeeding Wright vice-chairman contact Yeoman for township business.
Frank Veres of 848 Virginia Street Toledo won second prize in Owens-Illinois Glass Co contest for ideas on new glass products. Prize options included 1000 dollars or a two person trip to Sun Valley Idaho. Veres, a ceramic engineer at Porcelain Products, is married to former Thelma Hack who taught at Carey High School.
The 24th annual session of the Ohio Eastern Star Tenth District will convene Tuesday at the Masonic Temple in Sycamore. The morning session starts at 10 o'clock with luncheon at 11 30 and a School of Instruction at 1 pm. Contact Mrs Charlies Hall for reservations by Saturday.
C A Schira, Nachurs Plant Food Co. representative from Marion, named district sales manager. His territory covers Wyandot, Hancock, Seneca and Crawford counties. He will appoint and instruct salesmen as part of his duties. The firm manufactures Nachurs liquid fertilizer.
The Women’s Missionary Society of Christ Lutheran Church will gather on January 11 at 2:30 PM in the church parlor. Mrs Carl Heck will lead the topic Lutheran Women Around the World and Mrs F L Moyer will lead the devotional.
