John W Alspach Dies After Illness at 73 in Blanchard

John W Alspach, 73, longtime Blanchard resident, died Sunday morning after a three month battle with cancer. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 PM from the Methodist Protestant church in Blanchard with Rev George Foltz officiating. interment in Zion Bloom Cemetery. Survived by wife Mary Jo Davis Alspach, two children Walter Foster and Winis Q Alspach of Blanchard, sister Laura Snyder of Mt Blanchard, and a deceased daughter. He was a retired farmer, former member of the Mt Blanchard council, and a half century member of the Methodist Protestant church.

Frank Holmes A National Figure

Frank Holmes 68 editor and publisher of the Nevada News for 45 years and Wyandot county newspaper man died Saturday at Magnetic Springs. He gained national prominence in the corn borer fight blocking a 10 million dollar appropriation and testified before a congressional committee. He also campaigned against cattle tuberculin testing. He is survived by a widow and two sons.

Watch Night Service At Methodist Church Welcomed

Members of the Methodist church gather for a Watch Night service at 11:00 p.m. There will be brief testimonies and musical selections with Miss Evelyn Hosafros presiding at the organ. Death of Miss Elizabeth Green in county home

Miss Elizabeth Green died Tuesday at 1 PM in the county home after a six month illness. Aged over 90, she came to the home four years ago from Carey. The body was taken to Bringman & Cod funeral home in Upper Sandusky for funeral arrangements.

The council reports $142 50 received for fire department services in 1930 with several accounts unpaid. Orders were given to salt the ice at the public square to reduce hazards for vehicles and pedestrians as the meeting adjourned to Monday evening January 12, 1931.

Carey business leader Byron Ogg dies at Columbus filling station

Byron Ogg prominent Carey stock raiser and banker died of a heart attack Friday at a Columbus filling station while returning from real estate business. He was 65, survived by widow Della and two sons Fordyce and William, with funeral services held Monday at his residence.

Fire alarms at Doctor McDaniel office after stove mishap

Firefighters responded Monday morning to the office of Dr. I G McDaniel where a rear room fire was extinguished with chemicals. The blaze started when a gas stove flue hole remained uncovered after relocation of household goods to the Sutphen duplex and sparks fell into a waste basket. Postmaster Herbert Newhard raised the alarm after hearing overhead noises and seeing a scorched steel ceiling.

Kiwanis Close 1930 with White Side Winning Contest

Kiwanis Club held its last 1930 meeting at the Galt House with 25 members and one guest. Ralph Kurtz retired president praised cooperation as the White Side led by captain Harry Bristol won the membership and attendance contest. Four members gave talks on what they would do differently if they had 1930 to live over.

Mrs. Adam Shue Injured In Route 28 Crash

Two people were hurt in a Sunday collision on Route 28 near Fostoria. Mrs. Adam Shue of Carey sustained head wounds and was treated at Fostoria city hospital, while her 17 year old daughter Clemina was cut about the head. Harold Shue and another daughter escaped injury. The Shues’ car collided with a vehicle driven by B W Foos of Fostoria after passing a Michigan car parked in the road. Foos and his wife and daughter Mary Ellen were uninjured. Mrs Shue has since been sent home and is improving.

Toledo couple wed in quiet ceremony

Miss Lucille Wisner of Toledo daughter of Warren Wisner and Clarence Banning son of Mr and Mrs F J Bann were married Wednesday evening December 24 in Toledo. The bride wore a black chiffon velvet dress and will reside in Toledo.

Death of Mrs Anna Orians at 73 in Wyandot County

Mrs Anna Orians died Saturday night at her home five miles south of Carey from heart trouble. She was 73, born Anna Mary Smith in Mason City Virginia, married to Frank Orians in 1883, with five surviving children and 30 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's church Salem Township with burial in the church cemetery. Her sister Margaret Gaa had predeceased her.

Carey Farmers Club Banquet For Ladies Scheduled

The Carey Farmers Community Club will banquet the ladies Tuesday evening February 12 at the M E church. Arrangements are being made for a lady speaker to be here.
