A Sunday service at Memorial Evangelical Church drew large attendance with strong junior department program and an adult pageant titled Message of the Manger. A good offering was received and plans announced for installation of officers and teachers on December 9 along with reception of members and a baptismal service.
Laura Lucille Kimmel daughter of Mr and Mrs W E Kimmel and Fred Harlan Roynon son of Mr and Mrs Harlan Roynon were quietly married Saturday at 11 o clock in the Salem Evangelical parsonage Eden township Rev G N Perkins officiated using the single ring service After a short trip to Bellevue the couple will reside here
A special meeting of Earl Green Post No 344 of the American Legion is announced for Tuesday evening December 30. The program includes social time and card playing followed by an oyster supper. All ex servicemen are urged to attend.
Members of the Church of the Nazarene living northwest of town have bought the Shuman schoolhouse west of town and are using it for religious services. Sam Stone a Nazarene preacher and Coon Puckett a Baptist have been holding meetings there for some time.
Sunday December 28 no evening service at the Lutheran church. The pastor will conduct services Saturday evening at the Vanlue Lutheran Church.
A watch night service was held at Memorial Evangelical Church to mark New Year. The program began at 1 00 PM with congregational singing, music by the Ridge Quartet, girls quartets, scripture lessons, and talks by Rev C D Myers and others.
The local Rebekah lodge has elected officers including Noble Grand Mrs Harry Bawitian Vice Grand Mrs Robert Brown Recording Secretary Mrs Harry Hosafros Financial Secretary Mrs Ervin Wentling Treasurer Mrs Lloyd Long Trustee Mrs George Laird Dianist Mrs R E Gimilana Captain of Degree Staff Mrs Ervin Wentling. Installation will be in January by District Deputy President Mrs Bert Smith.

Last week township trustees paid railroad fares for Mrs. Noah Watkins and her eight children to Ivyton Kentucky where Mr Watkins lives and where the family owns a 100 acre farm. They had been destitute and public charges locally.

James Cole of Hamilton died Saturday evening at 6 00 oclock at age 71 Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Wharton Church of God with burial in Wharton cemetery He spent most of his life near Wharton and moved to Hamilton 20 years ago to make his home The death notice is linked to Mr Cole's son and Mrs Truman
Three Notre Dame Sisters visited the Pilgrim House and Shrine on Sunday. Sr. M. Adelaide, a former Our Lady of Consolation teacher now at St. Ann's in Toledo, was joined by Ven. Mother Superior Sr. M. Antonia visiting from Germany and Sr. M. Norbertine from St. Wendelin's, Fostoria. They extended greetings to friends from former days.
The Carey Farmers Community Club will meet Monday evening December 29 at the Moose Hall. A good program has been arranged.
This afternoon in Carey Ohio the Strand Theatre hosts a holiday program with Santa Claus distribution and children's matinee. Merchants donate a Christmas treat as part of a citywide effort to boost holiday shopping and town decorations.
A striking Bethlehem Nativity crib has been erected at the Shrine Church of Our Lady of Consolation. The lifelike figures evoke the city where Jesus was born and peace to men of goodwill. The public may view it on Christmas Eve, unveiled just before Midnight Mass.
Entry found through a cellar window. Robbers unlocked three outside doors and stole seven dollars and clothing including two pairs of trousers and a shirt from the Donelson residence on Findlay street. Mr Donelson pursued a man in a long black overcoat to near High street before the thief escaped.
The local post office reports its busiest day on Monday and Tuesday forenoon with large stamp sales totaling 285 dollars. A total of 266 insured packages were handled, down from 364 the previous year, while Charles Lanner who delivers parcel post packages chartered a Ford truck to assist him.

A porcelain plant worker, N Gar n, was injured Monday afternoon when a 50 pound keg of ware fell on his head, cutting a 3 inch gash. Dr A Baisley treated the wound with three stitches.
