Lutheran relief drive seeks clothing for European aid

The Lutheran church collects funds and garments for the National Lutheran Council relief in Europe. A free will offering reached about 3100 with clothing drive by the Men's Brotherhood to be distributed in Russia. Davies Opera Bumpers Present Olivette At High School

The high school lecture course fourth number featured Davies Opera Bumpers presenting Olivette a light opera. Mr Davies starred backed by strong voices and solid comedy. No scenery was used and the accompanist acted in the cast yet the result was excellent.

In Toledo on Wednesday 10:60 a federal court hearing dismissed the bankruptcy case against Liberty Tire Corp. The Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society met at the parsonage for a regular session. Cora Hart led devotionals in president’s absence, read Acts 17, and prayers followed. Members sang Old Black Joe and heard reports from C R Tate Will Heck and A J Foreman.

Carey Fire Suppresses Grass Blaze Fueled by Wind

Last Thursday around 1 pm a Northern Ohio locomotive started a grass fire in the northwest part of town. High winds spread the flames quickly until the Carey fire department arrived and promptly extinguished the fire.

Fatal Crash On Three Mile Bridge Claims Local Youth

Carl Rothrauff 18 of Carey dies after a speeder built by Lanker from an old Ford crashes on a steep bridge approach near Findlay. Kenneth Clark and Gail Lanker are injured lightly. Lanker unhurt. Coroner rules accidental death. Rothrauff died within minutes. He had moved to Carey a year ago to live with G A Rothrauff. funeral plans filed for Turtle Creek relatives.

PEST CAMPAIGN RESULTS AT CRAWFORD RIDGE FARM BUREAU

The Crawford Ridge Farm Bureau reports a tight pest campaign ending February 15. East side wins by 652 points with totals of sparrows mice rats and hawks. grand totals show 10 266 sparrows 3595 mice 1255 rats and 16 hawks. The saved damage amounts to 20206 dollars for the two townships. Leaders will meet to choose banquet details and consider a joint feast.

Beebe Honored Local Doctor Celebrates 50 Years Practice

Dr. H. E. Beebe graduated at Cleveland Homeopathic Hospital College on February 12 and moved to Sidney five weeks later to practice. He became a trusted physician with roles in Homeopathic societies and now serves as president of Citizens' National Bank and director of Shelby County Building & Loan Association. A native with many local relatives, he is regarded as a faithful healer by Sidney and surrounding areas.
