Burglary Strikes Beck Block Flats Stays Unfound

Sometime between 6 30 and 10 00 pm last Thursday a burglar forced entry through an unlocked back door at the Beck block flat of Mr and Mrs Will Bloom and ransacked drawers and closets but left money untouched. Bloodhounds tracked the culprits Friday morning through North Street toward the post office near Kenetley s yard and Big Four tracks.

Death of Lewis G Hart in Dow Street area

Lewis G Hart, 38, died Sunday at his home on South Street after battling grip and illness eight days. He was a longtime employee at Ewing drug store and later bakery owner in Vanlue. Funeral services are planned at 1:30 pm with Rev. W Elmer Bailey officiating. interment in Spring Grove cemetery. He leaves wife Cora Hendricks and four children, Martha Elizabeth Anna Catherine and three living, plus brothers Alphonso and Ora and sister Mrs C W Brayton. He served in Knights of Pythias and O N G and was active in local business and church life.

Mrs Saxton Heck Dies After Illness Leaves Four Children

Mrs. Saxton Heck of two miles northwest of town dies at 29 after a ten day illness of influenza and pneumonia. She leaves a husband Saxton Heck and four children born February 6. Private funeral rites were held at the home followed by interment in Spring Grove cemetery. Born Laura Ellen Parker August 26 1890 she was a native of Hancock county and had lived near Vanlue. She was a member of the Methodist church and is survived by three sisters and four brothers. The pallbearers were Blaine Parker Orin Parker Purcil Parker Ralph Heck and Harry Heck.
