Beitler Family Rites Mark Life of Columbus Resident
Samuel Beitler of Columbus dies aged 75 after long career in Carey and Columbus. He leaves a widow Frances Gail Hurd Beitler, son Brooks Beitler Chicago news editor, daughter Laura Markle Barrington Ill, and son Samuel Reid Beitler OSU. Funeral services held Feb 3 and 4 with wide attendance from Ohio towns.
High School Play Pollyanna Cast and School News
The high school will present Pollyanna early in March with cast members including Ruby Rothgeb Virginia Snobatger Drigs Ruehle Margaret Pahl Lucilio Kinsinger Elizabeth Hart Jock Dewitt Rutis Hackney Aloysius McLaughlin Roby vent Hecke and Daryl Moyer. First grade reading tests showed strong comprehension and following directions. Kiwanis club banquet for ladies will be in the cafeteria next Monday with home economics students serving. A chapel program by students from Tiffin Business University led by Mr Miller and Mr Shearer featured orchestra numbers a vocal duet solo saxophone and piano duet. Mrs Elnora Cross Dies Near Town After Illness
Mrs Elnora Cross widow of James Cross of this community died Tuesday at 3 30 am at the home of her daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs T O Clark six miles north of town after a week long pneumonia. Born August 11 1865 in Carey she lived her life in the area and married James Cross September 25 1891 who preceded her in death three years ago. Surviving are two children Mrs Clark and Zenith Wonder with two grandchildren Rose Ellen Clark and Ross Elden Clark and two brothers Harvey Wonder and Miles Wonder with other siblings deceased. Funeral services will be held at Memorial Evangelical church tomorrow at 2 30 pm Rev E D Paulin officiating. Interment in Spring Grove cemetery.

Death of Miss Ethel Williams of Gallipolis at 20
John Williams received word Monday of the death of his sister Miss Ethel Williams of Gallipolis. Aged 20, she had been ill eight months with tuberculosis. Family members from Toledo, Mt Blanchard, and nearby areas prepared to attend the funeral. Her sister Mrs Jesse Plantz died of the same disease two years ago.

Death of Jacob Wonder in Columbus at 77 in Carey area
Jacob Wonder died Tuesday afternoon at 5 30 o clock in Columbus at his daughter Mrs E P Copley’s home where he had lived since last December after a year long illness. Born February 15 1855 near Carey he married Ada Tanner 56 years ago and had nine children seven living. Surviving are seven children, two daughters died in infancy, a brother Louis Wonder of St Louis, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral at Goff funeral home Friday then at the local Methodist church with Rev C W Sultzbach officiating. Interment Spring Grove cemetery. Pallbearers were his five sons and a son-in-law.

Sister of Circleville Patient Dies in Illness
L E Straw of Cleveland was summoned to Circleville as his sister in law Mrs Nellie Courtright wife of Dr Dudley Courtright fell ill with acute appendicitis. An operation was done by a Columbus surgeon at Circleville hospital but complications arose Monday afternoon. The Courtrights have many medical friends aiding them as Mr Straw’s relatives hurried home.

Lieut Criger Ships Out With 81st Infantry Chaplain
Lieut Earl Criger son of Mr and Mrs L S Criger west of Carey left Manila aboard the Chaumont with the 81st Infantry and marines. He serves as chaplain to about 1 400 aboard and expected shore duty soon. His bride of Nov 11 1931 has returned to Columbus after accompanying him to the coast.

Last Saturday morning an attempted explosion was found in a safe room of a local office. A crude explosive device was placed near the door of the safe, but the safe itself remained intact and did not detonate..neutral wording to reflect incident.
