Ditch sale in Tymochtee township held by the surveyor Althouse with Curtis ditch auction results. Local weddings, deaths, marriages, pensions and indictments populate a county roundup including Mrs Agatha Purkey death and multiple Christmas season incidents.
Christmas gatherings across multiple households feature Burson Reinhart Hartle Tong and Zeis families hosting relatives from Beech Grove Findlay Ft Wayne Carey Marion Bellefontaine Hastings Mich Swanton and Fostoria. A holiday dinner and afternoon program highlighted by poinsettias and shared hospitality.
Arrangements are completed for the Seventh Annual Ohio Corn Show alongside the Ohio Apple Dairy and Poultry shows at the State Fair Ground Columbus from January 9 to 15 1915. Exhibits will fill the East Central Building with heated halls and covered walks. Notables from agricultural colleges and the USDA will address the Ohio Corn Improvement Association meetings in the Grange Hall East Central Building. Governor elect Willis inauguration and the Winter Exposition will attract crowds to the Ohio Capitol City on January 11. Admission is 25 cents adults 10 cents children, under eight free. The Corn Dairy Banquet is set for January 18 at the Women’s Building with Willis and others speaking. The State Farmers Institute will occur midweek during Exposition week with nationally known speakers. Everybody is invited.
Monday night the Carey council paid bills for groceries meat advertising and labor and reviewed the Asphalt Block Paving Co suit against the village seeking $300 for paving delays on Vance Street. The mayor was authorized to sign the village’s answer in court and Ralph Wenner received a $100 settlement for horse injury after debate.
Carl Pflueger who moved to Lawrenceville Illinois finds a near neighbor with the same name and initials. He has had mail mixups but has not learned yet if they are related.
Health Officer Damé announced there were no new diphtheria cases since last Thursday and the town is free from the disease. Precautions have been taken to prevent further infection.
The Public Service Commission of New York reports strong safety gains from the Safety First movement. Passenger deaths on steam railroads fell 72 percent and injuries dropped 45 percent compared with the prior year. In 1913 fifty one passengers were killed and last year fourteen. injuries fell from 1,746 to 943. Employee casualties also declined with 196 killed and 3,022 injured last year against 250 killed and 3,076 injured the year before.
Harry K. Beis of Crawford township wed Nora Bare of McCutchenville at Upper Sandusky last Thursday morning. The ceremony was performed by Rev G. W. Vorhis. The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs George W Beis. the bride is daughter of Colonel Bare.
The McRill family held their annual Christmas day reunion at the home of L. M. Wonder west of town. Fifty one attended as guests Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Wonder of this city and Rev. and Mrs. Charles Bowers of Larcaster joined the event for a bountiful dinner and enjoyed occasion.
