Local and personal items list travels and visits of residents and guests. Mr and Mrs J L Searfoss visited Upper Sandusky. Mr and Mrs G V Sutphen visited Findlay. Miss Frances Riester spent Sunday in Fostoria. various guests stayed with families in Bucyrus and nearby towns.
Social notes list numerous residents visiting and visiting kin in Tiffin and nearby towns. Families from Findlay Carey and Toledo host and travel for New Year festivities. A protracted Lovell M E church meeting opens with Rev. Elliott in charge. An oil blast injures A N Vosberg in the Big Four roundhouse.
Samuel P Daymon died December 2 1914 at 5 30 pm at his home 135 Shinkle Street Findlay Ohio after an eighteen month paralysis. Born March 22 1851 in McCutchenville Ohio he was 63 years 8 months and 11 days. He lived in Carey and Findlay and was janitor at Adams school. He married Jennie Weakley forty one years ago and leaves three sons W L Daymon F A Daymon and I K A Daymon and daughter Mrs Geo Longbrake plus two brothers and two sisters. Funeral December 2 at Grace Evangelical church Findlay conducted by Rev W Elmer Bailey burial Maple Grove Cemetery.
Revival meetings proceed at United Brethren church with Rev. Shock and Rev. R. A. Powell aiding. Crowds fill each service and up to Tuesday night fifteen conversions have occurred. Two daily services are planned and next Sunday will offer three services including a men’s session at 2 30 p.m.
Mr. and Mrs Roy Herbert hosted New Year’s Day dinner with guests Mrs Etta Shoup Mr and Mrs E Cram and sons Maynard Raymond and Donald Miss Clara Noel Mr and Mrs Clem Alspach and Mrs Welfe in attendance.
Wyandot County court actions list a sheriff sale of John Linderbeck’s property in Carey to satisfy Kate Nye and others. The sale occurs February 6 1915 at 2 PM on Frederick Street lot 23 A J Frederick’s Addition valued at 400 dollars with cash terms. Also obituary notes Mrs Jane Wertz widow of Jacob Wentz died at Wharton aged 75. Funeral at Wharton M E church.
Thirty friends gave Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Young a warm welcome Monday evening upon their return from a honeymoon. The party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Slemmer included music games and refreshments. Several useful gifts were presented to the newlyweds.
Donald Cliniger Clinger, a tinner, son of Charles Clinger, wed Miss Eva Routsen, a telephone operator, daughter of Arthur Routsen, both of Carey. The ceremony was performed by Squire Robert A. Carter at his office on Tuesday morning about 11 o'clock. They will reside at Carey.
Sunday dinner at Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Kemerley featured Mr. and Mrs. George Ash, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Kemerley and daughters Gladys and Moreas, Mrs. P. E. Galbroner, and Mr. L. Cutler with son Melford.
Entertained friends at the Beis residence five miles northeast of Carey last Saturday evening to greet Harry Beis and his wife returning from a Toledo and Whitehouse honeymoon. Guests enjoyed songs, violin solos, and Clinger’s orchestra. Light refreshments were served. Attendees included A J Boutson C W Clinger Elmer Strahm Jacob Fruthu and sons Ross Delhert Allen Nellie Florence Carrie Beis Don Clinger Lloyd Luce Earl Green Myron Bland Alonzo Green Eugene Mitten Forrest Bland Willie Spaky Cyrus Sloman Wm Youngpeter and Fred Fox.
Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Sopher hosted New Year dinner for their children and grandchildren. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Sopher and daughters Margaret and Beulah of Adrian, Mrs. F. M. Wenner and daughters Edith and Emma of McCutchenville, the family of Harvey Sopher, Lon Ogg with Alice Elizabeth, Mrs. Will Carr, V. S. Chesebrough, and Willis Sopher.
A son was born to Mr and Mrs Robert Baughman four miles west of town on Monday morning. A ten pound daughter was born to Mr and Mrs William Dible eight miles northeast of town on Sunday morning.
