Chapel program hosted by the high school faculty featured a Christmas song, devotions by Mr Romig, vocal solos by Miss Finley, piano by Miss Warren, and cornet solos by Mr Huffman. The event raised about 25 for shoes for students in need and included the band practicing old fashioned songs for upcoming games.
A program will be given by the trades of the Colonel Crawford build Anetrthe hich stool auditorium next Tuesday at 1 30 p m There will be no admission charges All the parents and friends are invited.
Charity hosts a high school basketball night drawing a large crowd. The opener pitted the Future Farmers of America against the Freshmen, delivering pep, action, and thrills. The Freshmen led at halftime, with momentum shifting in the second half.
The Lutheran church hosts a 4 30 vesper service with Christmas music. Miss Elsie Howard will play organ selections including Christmas Pastorale and Festival March. Mrs B L Wallace directs the choir of 20 voices and Rev Paul R Clouser along with Mr G M Kurtz sing. The service marks the second monthly vesper this winter, continuing a regular Sunday pattern.
Mrs. Richard Smith announces the death of her uncle Mr St P Cookson who died December 7 at the home of his son Carl in Battle Creek Michigan. He had traveled from California to visit relatives in Ohio and Michigan and burial is in Junction City Kansas. He was brother in law of the late Henry Karr.

On Tuesday night December 23 the Girl Scouts will carol on Carey residence streets from 7 to 8. Afterward they meet in the Scout Room for a Christmas party with a gift exchange and lunch. Earlier, at the Lutheran church on December 17, tenderfoot members received Scout pins in the Investore service led by Captain Miss Walters and dressed dolls for needy children.
Mr and Mrs Ralph Haferd of east of town learned on Wednesday morning of the death of Joseph S Held of Lakewood Cleveland. He died Tuesday at 10 30 PM after an illness with pernicious anemia. He is survived by his wife Rose Haford formerly of east of Carey, three brothers Edward Toledo Fred Sandusky City Wil Cleveland, and sister Emma Cleveland. No funeral arrangements have been made.
The Times will print early next week due to Christmas. If merchants want extra ad time, it will be published Tuesday morning. otherwise Wednesday morning is planned. All correspondence should arrive Monday to allow processing.
Earl Snook's orchestra presented a strong program during the evening service at the M E church. The organ and orchestra accompanied congregational singing as Rev R J Turrell told The Other Wise Man. Mrs Wesley Wonder closed with Resc ue the Perishing ix.
Miss Caroline Snook of Findlay, daughter of Mr and Mrs W S Snook, has been elected the most popular co ed by Findlay College students. She is a niece of Mrs H A Kear of Findlay.
Nell Twining writes of a grand old pine grown near the village, now decorated and tall as a symbol of Christmas cheer. The star at its tip guides Santa, inviting all to celebrate the holiday with warmth and community spirit.
Sup H H Silverman of Nevada reports 33 dollars as the first contribution this week toward the Christmas seal drive. County schools were allocated 10 seals per pupil. Nevada is on the honor list with 100 percent participation, while other schools race to match. Proceeds fund child health work in Wyandot county and pre school programs.
Four ships were chartered by director Sam Wood for sea scenes in Way for a Sailor a Gilbert Beery star vehicle. The film shot on the Pacific and at San Pedro docks portrays roughneck sailors and their romantic entanglements with Polly Moran among the ports. Gilbert plays a two fisted role opposite Beery in a change from his usual suave parts.
Congressman Grant E. Mouser Jr. informed Postmaster Herbert Newhard of his recommendation for reappointment to a new four year term starting January 10 1931. The note cites Newhards efficiency and notes his long service with 28 years as postmaster and 10 years as clerk at Carey.
Last Friday Troop No 3 held an eight-boy meeting in uniform. They planned a Christmas party for Thursday December 18 with Tiffin visitors. They sold tickets for the social and hard party on January 20 and learned a new game. The meeting adjourned at 9 30 o clock.
The Lutheran Ridge cemetery near Caregin Ridge has organized trustees led by H G Chambers and H A Stoll to oversee improvements. Volunteer labor in two sessions shaved ground, straightened monuments, and erected a temporary three sided fence with concrete bases. About 25 volunteers helped for three days, and seven for four days, weather favorable. A new fence and brick finish are planned for spring, with grass seed to be sown. A endowment fund target aims for 2500 dollars, with 1500 raised and 500 pledged.
Mrs. WM Long writes Carey friends that Mr. Long is better but weak while noting a severe water shortage in Hadley Pennsylvania with wells and springs drying up. She sends Christmas and New Year greetings to the Carey community.
The new illuminated cross for Christ Lutheran church front window will be dedicated at the vesper service at 4:30 Sunday. The cross stands 5 feet high and is made of opalescent glass and brass, with lights controlled by a clock. It is a gift from the Ladies Aid society.
Miss Helen Irene Dible daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Dible west of town and Kenneth George O'Brien son of Mr and Mrs Bernard O'Brien south of town were married Sunday morning at 9 o'clock at the Lutheran parsonage. Rev Paul R Clouser officiated with Miss Ruth Fleece and Franklin Brown as witnesses. The couple left on a motor trip and will live with the groom's parents until spring.
The Woman's Home Missionary Society of the Methodist church will hold a bake sale this Saturday at Dible's plumbing shop starting 10:30 AM. Fruit cakes plum puddings dressed chickens and homemade can ies will be offered.
The Strand theatre hosts a free children’s matinee on Wednesday December 24 at 2 30 PM Santa Claus will distribute candy after the show A large community tree with a white star lights the street and local merchants promote holiday shopping in Carey with festive displays and bargains
The M. E. church hosts a pageant Sunday with a cast including Mary Lillian Mitchell Joseph Voyle Brashares and Dorcas Baker plus shepherds wise men a reader and a full committee of organizers. A platform has been built for the drama with organ and balcony use. stage builders include C D Mitchell Dr H E Wisterman and Voyle Brashares among others. Rehearsals are set for tonight with a 730 start.
A letter with a peculiar address to Elmer Ezra or other Keller kin arrived for E. M. Keller on E Findlay Street from B. F. Fuller of Mercer Island Washington, a nephew who has not met for 50 years. Fuller, age 77, hopes to visit again and see the old red barn and brick house once owned by his grandfather Adam Keller.
The 6:00 a.m. service begins with carols and an organ prelude followed by a Christmas sermon by the pastor. The church is specially decorated for the occasion and the public is invited to attend.
A poem urging dawn to rise, celebrating the sun’s return. It speaks of a rendezvous with day and the awaiting souls to be guided by light. The verse appeared in the Columbus Dispatch, authored by Mrs Harry Hunter, a former Carey resident.
Crawford Chapter No 168 of the Eastern Star will install the 15931 officers Friday evening at 7 30. Miss Elsie Howard will be the installing officer, assisted by Mrs Moyer as installing marshal and Mrs Margaret Dow as installing chaplain. Refreshments and a social time will follow the installation.
Ed Yost of Fostoria bought Frank Pahl's 60 acre farm in Ridgie Township three miles southwest of Carey on Route 103 for 5500 dollars. Yost takes possession March first. Deal arranged through Feasel agency.

A 9 pound son born Sunday night to Mr and Mrs J F Dible named Joseph Ferdinand Jr. A 104 pound daughter born Wednesday morning to Mr and Mrs Cletus Courtad north of town. Benjamin Arthur born to Mr and Mrs Arthur Postle Cincinnati. Postle former local high school principal. A 9 1 2 pound daughter born Tuesday morning to Mr and Mrs Ralph Haford east of Crawford named Jane Rosaire. An 8 1 2 pound daughter born Tuesday to Mr and Mrs W L Markley of Fostoria at the home of Mrs Markley’s parents Mr and Mrs George Laird S Patterson Street.
Solomon Hile aged 87 died at his daughter Mrs Ollie Eicher's home in Ithaca Michigan on Sunday December 14 and was buried December 16 He was born northwest of Carey to Adam and Phoebe Putnam Hile He married Rebecca Johnson of Adrian who preceded him in death Surviving children are Ella Parker Nettie Eicher and Ollie Eicher all of Ithaca Two sisters Mrs Susan Searfoss Mt Blanchard and Mrs Laura Foster Bellmore Also survived by a long Michigan residence of over 60 years
Christmas at Our Lady of Consolation will open with a midnight mass with orchestra accompaniment. Additional masses are set for 7 30 a m and 10 00 a m on Christmas Day.
Prosecuting Attorney David Creger appeared in Lima Tuesday before the district court of appeals on the case of Willis Mann against the State of Ohio. No decision has been returned as yet.
