Jane searches for Santa Claus in the Land of the North Star with the help of animals and classroom figures. The story, set with a cast of characters including Slane Mary Heck and Santa Claus, appears in a December 21 presentation.
St Wendelin dominates after a strong start by Carey with improved offense over last week. Close prospects loom for a Tuesday matchup against Sycamore as Carey aims to avoid another underdog label. Substitutions include Lichtle Huth Tracy Heck Jacoby L Strahm and Pieracini. The B team edged St Wendelin 14 13.
The Carey high school band will broadcast on WXLY Lima on Friday December 17 from Findlay College. It is part of a state series sponsored by Clover Farm Stores. Bands are judged by radio audience applause cards with a $75 cash prize for the winner.
The W B A invites juniors mothers and children to a Christmas party Friday December 17 at 8 pm. Members ask those bringing offerings to prepare items for the program and a 10 cent Christmas exchange will be held for both adults and children.
Stores in Cayey will remain open every weekday night until Christmas to aid shoppers. The extended hours began last night as retailers offer late shopping access.

The Carey Gasco cooking school held Friday and Saturday in the Catholic hall drew fine attendance and interest in talks by Miss Mary Brown and Miss Sue Thomas. Prizes were awarded including a Tappan range to Mrs. F. D. Hurd and numerous groceries flowers and small gifts to multiple attendees.
Workmen remodel the Cosgray room on West Findlay street formerly used by H B Kurtz Sons Co. The John Deere store will move to the site once work ends. Wyandot Tractor and Implement Co leases the building for John Deere. Centennial day set for December 30 with four reels of moving pictures and free lunch. Roy Blue of Richwood named local manager. current location is on South Vance Street.

A Tuesday forenoon fire damaged the shingle roof at the Findlay Street home of Mr and Mrs Ross John and their son. The blaze burned a 4 by 6 foot hole and scorched some cornice before the fire department arrived and used chemicals.

The Our Lady of Consolation school presents a Christmas program at Catholic Hall with a 1:30 matinee and 8:00 evening show on Sunday December 19. Acts include songs and a four poet operetta Santa Claus with grades 1 to 7, plus The Christ Candie two act play with Mother Madelon and Saint Nicholas roles.
The Wesleyan Guild class meeting is moved to Friday December 17. A potluck supper begins at 6 30 with hostess Mrs Vernon Huston of E Findlay Street. The gathering includes the annual Christmas exchange and officer elections.
The Senior Department and the Luther League sponsor a White Gift and Christmas Carol service next Wednesday evening at Christ Lutheran church. Favorite carols will be sung and members are asked to bring food gifts for distribution.

Beech Grove Ladies' Aid Society announces a food sale at the Ford garage on Thursday December 23. Items include chickens baked goods cottage cheese candy and popcorn croquettes. Proceeds support the church and community aid programs.
The WCTU will hold a meeting Friday at 2 PM at the home of Miss Sue Gilliland and Miss Della Gilliland on S Patterson Street.
Christmas activities at Memorial Evangelical Church include a 10 30 Sunday school lesson and a program of varied selections by children. An evening choir service titled A Christmas Candle features solos duets and chorus pieces performed by church youth. A special offering benefits the Evangelical orphans home at Flat Rock.
Sparks from a chimney ignited the shingle roof of Albert Damico’s home on N Vance Street while he was in Toledo to bring his wife from Mercy hospital. Firefighters stopped the blaze with little damage. Mrs Damico plans for an operation, and their daughter Reva battled pneumonia while staying with Henry and Mrs Odone during the illness.
The Rebekah lodge elected officers led by Past Grand Miss Gail Schoenberger as noble grand and Mrs Dennis De Vene as vice grand. Miss Alice Ogg became recording secretary with Mrs Robert Brown as financial secretary and Mrs Claude Johnson as treasurer. Trustees include Mrs Lloyd Long and deputy president Mrs Gertrude Tate. Captain Mrs Paul McNutt and Mr Ervin Wentling and Mr Laurel Lanning will serve on the memorial committee for the coming year.
The chapter will hold its regular meeting Friday evening December 17 with initiatory work and refreshments served.
Carey Council Knights of Columbus held a first degree exemplification Tuesday evening with Rev Joseph J.C. Herp and several others joining. The event featured a degree team and visiting members from Tiffin Council. Father Cyprian led a labor history discussion, and a Christmas party for members and families was announced for December 23 with Santa Claus arriving around 8 p.m.
A poem by Nell Twining from Carey appeared on Toledo Times editorial page last Sunday. The verse honors Christmas and the manger in Bethlehem as its inspiration.
Mrs Cora Hart Miss Mary Phillips Miss Dread Tong Wendell Wentling and Léon Phillips attended the Camp Soyehor rally at Oak land Ave Evangelical church in Marion Monday with Rev Oscar Latta as pastor. Miss Helen Smith joined for the evening session along with Miss Hazel Dible and Miss Arlene Perkins.
Tonight at 7 30 the Women of the Moose will hold a meeting beginning promptly. Members are asked to attend and a Christmas exchange with lunch was noted from last week's session.
The Adrian school invites the public to a Christmas entertainment on Thursday evening December 23.
Mr and Mrs Richard Frederick purchased a dwelling on W North street from Superintendent W L Arnholt and moved in on Wednesday.
Santa Claus arrives Saturday afternoon in Carey for a free candy giveaway and two showings at the Strand Theatre. Manager D A Capell says the program will start about 1 30 with candy and a free moving picture, inviting children from miles around to attend.
On Wednesday icy conditions caused several minor crashes. The Arcades bus from Carey skidded at Palm fishing station, flipped, damaging pumps and starting a fire. Driver Guy Shafer and a passenger escaped unharmed. A Findlay Carey bus incident and a west of Carey skid also occurred with no injuries. A truck overturned near Upper Sandusky and cars slowed near Kurtz hill.
After a fall purchase by H E Fetters and son Donald, Carey Variety store expands by taking adjoining room from W J Newhard and Holland Wonder. Wall removal nearly done to merge spaces. Store now has larger stock and wider merchandise, aiming to be unmatched in the region.
Miss Irene Mooroe Puetta daughter of Mr and Mrs John Puetta of Carew will unite with Lawrence Anthony Maenle of Toledo in marriage next Saturday forenoon. Maenle has worked at the Kable restaurant in Toledo and the couple plan to live with the bride’s parents.
Careverie of the Fazies hosts a Christmas party for children at their hall over Simonis grocery on Wednesday December 22 starting at 4 30. Santa will attend with a treat. Children must be accompanied by parents.
An 8 pounds newborn was born Monday forenoon to Mr and Mrs Clayton Shuman at their home on West Findlay Street. The infant has been named David Clayton.
