Carey Soroptimists announce December 23 as the deadline to drop off grocery gifts for the needy at Thoroclean Cleaners with club president Mrs Nellie Lee. This year baskets replace gift exchanges and contributions from friends are welcome. Eleven members attended the December dinner at Clube Azzar with hostesses Mrs Jack Rall and Mrs Lee.

Santa to Visit Carey Theatre Saturday Morning
Santa Claus will visit the Carey Theatre Saturday morning for a free two hour cartoon show for children up to the eighth grade starting at 10 o clock. Doors open at 9 o'clock and Santa will greet young children in the lobby between 10:30 and 11:30. Nativity Scene Lit On Library Lawn At Carey
The Nativity Scene is arranged on the Dorcas Carey Library lawn with a new large manger built by the Carey Jaycees. Members of the Carey Kiwanis Club place the statues and handle lighting. most statues are rubber, about 60 percent life size, donated last year by churches organizations and local individuals. Police Court records show Kemerley pleads guilty
Robert Kemerley 18 pleaded guilty before Mayor G C Wagner to failure to yield right of way. He was fined 10 dollars and assessed 460 dollars in costs after entering Route 699 from a private drive south of Carey and striking a southbound car driven by 63 year old Loren Kear of Forest at about 1 20 pm Friday.
