Carey High School Vocal Groups Present It Was a Night of Wonder
One hundred fifteen vocal department students perform a two show Christmas program at Carey High School with the Girls Glee Club High School Choir and Junior Choir assisted by speech class students and Y- Teens. Narrator Jeff Hilty reads the Bible with Peggy Keller Jim Courtad reading Mary and Joseph while angels wise men and shepherds are portrayed by listed students. The program on December 19 for grade schools at 1 p m and December 20 for the high school at 2 30 p m features a sequence of carols and readings tracing the Christmas story from prophecy to the visit of the Wisemen and shepherds with lighting by Darel Eschbach Tom Walter and accompanists Linda Wise and Nancy Phillips. The event aims to share the true meaning of Christmas with the community.

Patty Campbell Fund Grows Help For Burned Child
Patty Campbell, six, severely burned September 17, remains hospitalized at Blanchard Valley Hospital after three months of skin grafts. Her mother donated skin, and local workers and clubs raise funds with Lime & Stone Co employees collecting donations and sales tax stamps donated by Carey Women’s Club to support Patty’s medical costs.

Carbon Monoxide Danger Traced to Blocked Furnace in Carey Home
Miss Mary Steinmetz and several family members were overcome by carbon monoxide Sunday when a chimney flue and furnace pipe clogged with soot allowed deadly gas to back into 320 S Vance Street. They were treated at Blanchard Valley Hospital with oxygen, and Steinmetz remained under care Tuesday. Police and a local gas company manager identified the cause as the blocked furnace installation. Involved were Dr H K Van Buren, Mr Bristoll, Mrs Anna Karcher, and Robert Stombaugh.

Officials note prior cleanups removed three to four truckloads a year ago and warn of flooding if debris blocks the channel. Ordinance 463 bans disposal of waste along roads and near waterways with fines up to 200 dollars and potential jail time.
