Four year old Cynthia Sue Heck, daughter of Mr and Mrs Reid Heck, northwest of town, won a life sized doll Peggy and a full wardrobe donated by the Carey JayCee Jays on December 7. Cynthia chose the doll's name and cares for Peggy's elaborate outfits.

Kiddies Christmas Party Surges With Santa In Carey

Santa Claus visits Carey and Upper Sandusky for Elks Lodge 83 Kiddies Christmas parties. In Carey, theatre shows run 1 to 4 pm with a 2:30 to 3:30 lobby meet and treat. in Upper Sandusky, Star Theatre show runs 11 am to 1 pm followed by a parade to the Elks Home for treats. Both events welcome children up to 8th grade. parents are advised to shop while kids enjoy the party.

Carey Village Grants Free Parking Ahead of Christmas

Carey merchants won approval from the village council to offer free two hour parking in the business district Friday Saturday Monday and Tuesday. The program aims to boost holiday shopping but relies on merchants and employees using off street spaces to avoid defeating the measure.

In a Dec 10 boys basketball game at Dunkirk Hardin Northern edged Carey 53 to 51 after a fast start. Tom Greer led Carey with 19 points while Arn and Orians added double figures for Hardin Northern. Carey later struggled in a 69 48 loss to Wharton on Dec 13.

New Social Security Office to Open in Findlay

The Social Security Administration will open a new district office in Findlay to serve Hancock Seneca and Wyandot counties. Previously Wyandot residents were served by the Marion office, with the Findlay location to be announced by Commissioner Charles I Schottland.

Village Council Approves 1958 Budget and Free Parking

The 1958 tentative budget of 594938.91 was read by Village Manager George Dunn. It includes 260100 for electricity and awaits county budget commission approval. Council granted free parking for Carey merchants Friday through Tuesday and covered meters. A routing hazard at Route 509 and S Patterson Street was referred to the State Highway Department. New officers John Hendricks and Clarence Hagley will be sworn in January 1.

Slightly Injured Driver In Out Of Control 1951 Sedan Crash

Ronnie Conley a 50 year old of rural route 1 Carey was slightly injured when his 1951 sedan left County Road 45 five miles south of New Riegel and ended in a ditch. He was treated by a Carey physician. Deputy Huffman cited him for reckless operation and set a court date in Fostoria Municipal Court.
