Four year old Cynthia Sue Heck, daughter of Mr and Mrs Reid Heck, northwest of town, won a life sized doll Peggy and a full wardrobe donated by the Carey JayCee Jays on December 7. Cynthia chose the doll's name and cares for Peggy's elaborate outfits.
Santa Claus visits Carey and Upper Sandusky for Elks Lodge 83 Kiddies Christmas parties. In Carey, theatre shows run 1 to 4 pm with a 2:30 to 3:30 lobby meet and treat. in Upper Sandusky, Star Theatre show runs 11 am to 1 pm followed by a parade to the Elks Home for treats. Both events welcome children up to 8th grade. parents are advised to shop while kids enjoy the party.
Carey merchants won approval from the village council to offer free two hour parking in the business district Friday Saturday Monday and Tuesday. The program aims to boost holiday shopping but relies on merchants and employees using off street spaces to avoid defeating the measure.
Our Lady of Consolation School will stage The Angels Christmas Song on Sunday at 7 30 p m in the new auditorium. The play follows heavenly preparations for Christmas with Archangel Michael leading a procession and a royal pageant featuring military angels dances and a star ballet. Free will offering asked to fund school benches.
The Carey Methodist Church will present its annual Sunday School Christmas program this Sunday evening at 7 30 in the social hall. Mrs. Robert Frederick directs Religious Education Work and oversees the program while the Junior Youth Choir led by Mrs. Walter Bixler with organist Mrs. Eugene Orians performs. After the program, Santa Claus will appear for the children.
Deer hunters in Wyandot county enjoyed a good open season last week with the Crawford area favored by many. Carey residents who locally bagged deer include Don Healey Vic Dunn Cecil Turnbell and Gene Feasel as trophies rise to near national quality for white tails.

Carey and its Exempted Village Schools praise Dr. Harry Mosafros for 12 years on the board and his role in elevating the district. The Christmas decorations in classrooms win praise, with thanks to Mrs. Alfred Davis and Mrs. David Walter for their work. The Class of 1957 funded a new electric powered movie screen at Carey High School Auditorium as their project.
Ted W. Brown Secretary of State issued a not for profit corporation charter to the Carey Community Development Corp with principal location at 102 E Findlay Street Carey Crawford Township Wyandot County Ohio. Trustees named to serve until first annual meeting are Joseph F. Dible Howard E. Snyder Earl S. Burson and Frank Jackson all of Carey. Attorney Paul A. Burson of 102 E Findlay Street Carey assisted in preparing the Articles of Incorporation.
Beech Grove Evangelical United Brethren Church hosts its annual Christmas party tonight at 6 30 pm with caroling a 7 45 pm potluck supper and a gift exchange. The Christmas program is Sunday at 7 45 pm featuring playlets recitations and carols.
Twenty Brownie and Girl Scout troops in Carey contribute $10 to the Nativity Scene on the public library lawn. The interdenominational project still needs an ox and a donkey priced at $29.50 each. donations can be left at the Carey Times office.
Mr and Mrs Leland Hendricks of Carey served as sponsors for Sara Louise Troiano who was baptized Sunday at St Josephs Catholic Church in Salem Township. Rev Bonaventure Crowley officiated as Sara Louise s parents Mr and Mrs Anthony Troiano of south of town attended.
In a Dec 10 boys basketball game at Dunkirk Hardin Northern edged Carey 53 to 51 after a fast start. Tom Greer led Carey with 19 points while Arn and Orians added double figures for Hardin Northern. Carey later struggled in a 69 48 loss to Wharton on Dec 13.
Charles Reed Jr. will again lead the Wyandot County March of Dimes Drive for 1958, with D W Oman as vice chairman and a chapter board including Mrs C M Beitler R E Culver Leo T Jones Judge Russell H Kear Mrs George Snyder and John A Greer. Reed notes polio gains from Salk vaccine but calls for ongoing care and new life to survivors as the campaign marks the 20th anniversary of the foundation.
Carey Kiwanis Club heard Robert Schwemley discuss his Alaska work with the Federal Electric Co. He shared color slides of Alaskan scenery and telecom equipment, noting Alaska is not pure wilderness and highlighting civilian radar links from the DEW Line.
The central hallway tree at Colonel Crawford School gleams 24 hours daily through dismissal on the 20th. Pupils contributed trinkets at little cost to craft a near universal display, with Ernst Kohmann gifting a 15 foot evergreen that decorates the hall after being shortened.
A candlelight Holy Communion service will be observed at First Methodist Church on Christmas Eve at 10 30. Mrs Eugene Orians will preside at the organ with the Senior Choir providing special Christmas music. Join as a family to begin this Christmas together.
Paul William Butch Pahl found a wallet with $100 on a street near E Findlay Street and Glen Avenue. He and his aunt Mrs Thomas Deiner identified the owner as George Niederkohr of 514 W South Street and returned the billfold, earning a reward.
The Social Security Administration will open a new district office in Findlay to serve Hancock Seneca and Wyandot counties. Previously Wyandot residents were served by the Marion office, with the Findlay location to be announced by Commissioner Charles I Schottland.
The 1958 tentative budget of 594938.91 was read by Village Manager George Dunn. It includes 260100 for electricity and awaits county budget commission approval. Council granted free parking for Carey merchants Friday through Tuesday and covered meters. A routing hazard at Route 509 and S Patterson Street was referred to the State Highway Department. New officers John Hendricks and Clarence Hagley will be sworn in January 1.
The McCutchenville Methodist Church hosts a Christmas program at 7 30 p.m. on Sunday with Santa in attendance. Christmas refreshments will be served afterward. Mrs Robert Smith chairs the program committee and other organizers oversee decorating and refreshments.
Ronnie Conley a 50 year old of rural route 1 Carey was slightly injured when his 1951 sedan left County Road 45 five miles south of New Riegel and ended in a ditch. He was treated by a Carey physician. Deputy Huffman cited him for reckless operation and set a court date in Fostoria Municipal Court.
