Ida Deidrick Of Vanlue To Be 98 This Friday

Mrs Ida Deidrick will celebrate her 98th birthday on Friday December 19 in the family home now with her daughter Cora Knepper. A native of Big Spring township Seneca county she has lived in the community all her life. She enjoys reading newspapers visiting and following current events though she has a fondness for radio over television. The Carey Times extends birthday wishes.

Carey Village Council Approves Water System Expansion

At the December council meeting the contract with McGill Smith and Becker to improve and expand the Carey water system was accepted by Resolution 440. The $850 cost will be added to the complete bill. Ordinance 510 passed as emergency to issue notes. Braun Bosworth and Co will finance. Police report shows November collections of 406 dollars.

November Meter Receipts and Violations Report

November meter receipts totaled 474 with a slight rise from 45.50 in 1957. First eleven months receipts reached 5,810, down from 5,967 a year ago. Meter violations and solicitor fees added 11439 to the village treasury last month. Police issued 363 tickets. 322 paid 280 at 25c, 37 at 1, and 5 miscellaneous totaling 239. One solicitor permit issued at 5. Last November 384 tickets were written and 355 paid 306 at 25c, 41 at 1, and 8 miscellaneous at 160. Two solicitor permits were issued.

Carey Violinists Featured in Messiah at Heidelberg

Handel's oratorio The Messiah will be performed by Heidelberg College choirs and the community chorus totaling about 300 voices, with the College Community Orchestra at Seiberling gym in Tiffin Sunday at 2:30 pm. Two Carey violinists, Carl Arnold and John Welsh, play in the orchestra. Admission is free for the public.

Welding Course Offered Farmers

The Carey High School Vocational Agriculture Department under Carl Cupp will offer a five week welding course starting January 8 at Carey High School. Sponsored by Lincoln Electric Co through its Wyandot county dealer U S Implement Co Upper Sandusky the course is open to farmers in the Carey School District. Limited to 16 students, register with the high school. A five dollar lab fee covers electrodes and metal.

Christ Church Finishes Centennial with Sunday Observance

The Christ Church centennial concludes this Sunday with Holy Communion at 8 am and 10 30 am. New members join at the 10 30 am service. an extra 4 30 pm observance runs half an hour for those unable to attend morning rites. Porcelain Products Plans New Line at Carey Division

E G Ryman, vice president and general manager, announced Carey Division of Porcelain Products will start manufacturing custom porcelain items for high voltage power distribution. The line will supplement existing low voltage and non electrical porcelain items, with production beginning after building mods and equipment install within a couple of months. Employment is expected to rise gradually due to increased production.
