Carey High School announces a 59 member concert band for 1953 54 consisting of grades 8 12 with 60 percent freshmen and eighth graders. The debut concert is the 8th annual Christmas Concert on Sunday afternoon December 20 in the high school auditorium.

Y-Teen Glee Club Forms Practice Schedule and Christmas Plan
The Y-Teen Glee Club has begun practice with sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings. Watch Lost 23 Years Ago Found by Hoepf Family
An Illinois open-face pocket watch lost 23 years ago was found Saturday morning by Louis Hoepf and his brothers along a creek on their parents farm south of Carey. The watch, with chain and compass charm, had remained submerged in mud but the dial and numbers remained legible. The piece later was taken to The Times office for inspection and showed an excellent movement, with only minor corrosion on the gold case.

Must Dispose of Rubbish Ordered by Village Council
Acting Village Manager G C Wagner directed legal action against anyone failing to dispose of rubbish properly. He reported nine truck loads removed from Spring Run between Findlay and Vance Streets, including beer cans ashes fencing and refrigerator packing cases. Merchants along E Findlay S Vance Streets were piling rubbish on village property near the Run, threatening flood risk during heavy rain. Wagner urged merchants to buy suitable disposal receptacles.

Clothing Drive Extended by Methodist Church for Korea
The Methodist Church district wide clothing collection to aid Korea has been extended to Sunday December 13. See Grandson First Time In 18 Years
Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Myers welcomed their 23 year old grandson Airman James Myers home at 338 Frederick Street. Born in Carey he had not visited since age five. James served in the U S Air Force with a Connecticut companion, recently arriving at Rockbourne AFB Columbus after duty in Okinawa. Both airmen trained together at Sheppard Texas and hope to visit Carey often.
