About 75 members and families attended a corn and wiener roast hosted by Mr and Mrs Edwin E Gottfried east of Lovell. Foster Savidge chaired the program while Lewis Gottfried Jr and spouse shared slides from Europe. The group voted to join Carey Kiwanis for a chicken barbecue set for Sept 24 at Carey Memorial Park.

Fordyce Lortz of the T D Romig farm west of Carey was pinned between a diesel tractor and a mower while attaching the tractor to the machine at 8 am Tuesday. He suffered serious abrasions to his left leg and side, with his clothing ground by the wheel, and was hospitalized after his son Roger freed him. X rays showed no fractures and he was recovering from shock.

Mrs Wade Speelman was elected president of the Wyandot County Cancer Society for 1956 57 at the annual meeting. Officers include vice president Mrs Doris Auck secretary Velma Swartz and treasurer Don Schilling.
