Miss Ann Dible a senior at Bowling Green University will receive a bachelor of science degree from the College of Liberal Arts at commencement exercises Friday afternoon. Several relatives and friends are expected to attend. Miss Dible is the daughter of Mr and Mrs J F Dible of E Findlay Street and plans to re enter the university in the fall for further study.
Atty Paul A Burson selected for the junior bar committee of the Ohio State Bar Association by President Earl F Morris of Columbus upon recommendation of executive committee member Russell C Price of Upper Sandusky.
Carey All Stars defeated New Riegel 8 to 3 as S. Phillips earned the win while Hemminger took the loss. Butch Krom led Carey with four at bats and D. Hunter and D. Tanner had two hits apiece. Box score notes appear for the two teams.
Thirteen boys from Scout Troop 51 at Our Lady of Consolation parish earned Ad Altare Dei medals during a weekend retreat by the Toledo Diocese at Camp Berry near Findlay. Medal recipients included Frank Troiano Jr, Michael Hilty, James Mullholand Jr, and Robert Welsh for six months of religious service. Other attendees were Robert Jacoby, Michael Lynch, Paul Pahl III, Robert Fleece, Charles Stapley, Donald Stout, Michael Fox, Benny DeAmicis, and Roger Mullholand.
The 1956 Wyandot County Fair entry deadline is 10 pm Saturday September 1 announced by Ross A Winter secretary of the board. Tickets are available from local businesses, fair directors in each township, or at the secretary's office in the courthouse. The Peoples Bank Company has engaged an architect to prepare plans for a new front for the banking room including a future expansion on the second floor. The changes will create a day depository for customers and display windows. Interior space already exists for a recreation and social room. The paper also notes higher savings rates and time certificates.

Mrs Jack Donaldson and Mrs William Heath announce the Jack and Jill Nursery School starts September 17 at Place Methodist Church. Classes meet Monday through Thursday at 9 30 am with registration open until September 10. Donald E Clark escaped injury when the bridge at the end of his lane off Route 103 two miles southwest of Carey collapsed Tuesday of last week. He drove a 1952 Ford truck hauling about 200 bushels of corn. most of the load was saved, with minor damage to the truck after two sills failed and spilled the grain into the ditch.
I thank relatives and friends for prayers, cards, gifts, and visits during my hospital stay at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Special thanks to Rev. Richard Hughes Jr for visiting in Rev. Walter Marks’ absence and to Mr. Goff for ambulance service.
The Vanlue school plans a two day teachers meeting on August 23 and 24 with sessions 9 a.m. to 3 30 p m and will open for students with a full day on August 27 with cafeteria meals. A Toledo Goodwill Industries truck will visit Carey on Tuesday, Aug. 28, to collect repairable clothing, furniture, and other household articles. Residents may call Mrs Lester Smiley at 64274 to arrange a home pickup by submitting names and addresses.
The JayCeeJays held a regular meeting at Mrs Wendell Myers home on W North Street. Plans for a style show were advanced for September 26 at Our Lady of Consolation auditorium. Mrs Talmadge Huston to host the group September 10.
Callers gather at the home of Mr and Mrs Elbert Tewell to visit their daughter Marilyn who is 15 and recovering from a polio attack. Attendees include Marilyns grandparents Earl and Mrs Smith Findlay Royal Walford Arlington and others from Rawson and nearby towns.
Friar Warren Welsh OFM Conv of Our Lady of Carey Seminary visits two weeks at his parents’ home, joined by William Welsh on leave from camera repair school at Lowry Air Force Base. William heads to Shaw Air Force Base after graduation.

Rev Walter Marks begins a second year as pastor at Memorial Evangelical United Brethren Church following assignment at the 124th Ohio Sandusky Conference in St Marys in August The conference approved a budget of 210801 an increase of 4331 over last year The raised funds will include support for a full time chaplain at Otterbein College Westerville
Mr and Mrs Ralph Haferd and son David joined relatives and friends for the silver jubilee of a Mercy Order group at Our Lady of the Pines Fremont on Wednesday Aug 15 Sister Catherine Agnes formerly Lydia Elizabeth Rall daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Henry Rall of Upper Sandusky has returned from St Louis Mo where she pursued post graduate work in teaching home economics
Police Justice Clyde Jenkins disposed of thirteen cases in two weeks. Defendants from Tiffin to Carey faced overload and speeding charges with fines ranging from 5 to 25 dollars and costs up to 8.60 dollars. Several officers cited include Ptl. E L Goffos Ptl Goffos Capt W R Jacob and Captain Jacob.
Miss Dorothy Jean Steinmetz and Carl Francis Peiffer married at St Marys Church in Tiffin. The bride, daughter of Steinmetz, and groom, brother of Peiffer, are both New Riegel natives. The couple will reside at 275 S Monroe St apartment 5, Tiffin.
Miss Joan Cole will travel to Muncie Indiana on Wednesday to assume duties as director of Brady Hall a new residence hall for women at Ball State Teachers College She will also pursue a master's degree in counseling and guidance College classes resume September 4.
Miss Kay Althauser will wed Robert Ritter on September 14 in St Pauls Lutheran Church Upper Sandusky with Rev Leroy Sarver officiating. The Althauser family and the Ritter family exchange plans for the ceremony at the church on the town’s Grove Street address.
The Carey Exempted Village Board of Education announces the 1956 57 teaching staff with John Drobnick of Painesville to teach in the high school and assist sports, James Barnhill of Findlay to teach 7th grade and coach junior high, Stanley Hunter of Carey to teach biology and science, Mearl Atkins reassigned as high school principal, Mrs. Charles Hall hired as head cafeteria cook, Thomas Maenle hired as janitor, and Maenle with Billie Ward hired as new bus drivers for 1956 57.
Miss Ann McCarley of the Capable Carey Coeds 4H Club will model her prize winning costume August 29 at the Ohio State Fair in Columbus. Other Wyandot County H girls Margaret Turpin of Nevada and Beverly Corfman of Sycamore will model their garments.
Mr and Mrs Earl Buckingham, their sons Richard and Michael, and Miss Wanda Mullholand returned from a weeklong trip visiting Knoxville Oak Ridge and Colorado Springs. They toured the Oak Ridge Atomic Energy facility and saw Colorado landmarks during their journey. They also halted near Hillsboro and Danville in Indiana and visited Fort Knox in Kentucky where Mr ODeil and Mr Buckingham served in 1941.
The United States Civil Service Commission announced an examination for the clerk position in the Carey post office. Salaries start at 182 cents per hour with no specific experience required beyond passing a written test. Full application details are available at nearby post offices and the Sixth Street Regional Post Office and Courthouse Building in Cincinnati Ohio. The vacancy arose from the retirement of John Jacoby.

Swan Rubber Co. employees approved a new contract in wage talks with U.R.C.1L PWA AFL CIO Local 414. The plan raises hourly wages by 10 cents and 8 cents for certain press classifications, plus fully paid hospitalization sickness accident and life insurance. The raise takes effect Aug 20. The contract runs until Nov 1 with negotiations to follow.
Miss Ruth Adelsperger daughter of Mr and Mrs C J Adelsperger will receive a bachelor of science in education from Bowling Green State University during commencement at 3 pm tomorrow in the Main auditorium. She is among 171 degree candidates at summer session close. She has taught third grade at Longfellow School in Fostoria while pursuing her education.
The friars of Our Lady of Carey Seminary defeated the Knights of Columbus 11 to 10 in a student field softball game Monday evening. Afterward both groups and families shared a wiener roast at the field. A family ball game is planned Tuesday at Carey Memorial Park with refreshments.
Eighty three members of the Clara Wentling family gathered for the 34th annual reunion at the Wyar dot county fairgrounds on Sunday August 12. A noon basket dinner preceded songs and talks and the election of 1957 officers.
Mr and Mrs Robert Richards moved two weeks ago into a newly constructed three bedroom house on the Wallace Passet farm two miles east of Upper Sandusky on US Route 30. They had been living with her parents, Mr and Mrs Cat. Frank Richards is employed by Mr Passet in the poultry dressing plant.
The 51st annual reunion of the Hile, Stahl, Putnam families will be staged Saturday August 25 at Carey Waterworks Park. Officers include President Robert Wonder of Tiffin and Vice President Logan Presler of Washington DC, with Miss Opal Starr as secretary treasurer.
