Troop 51 Scouts Earn Ad Altare Dei Medals

Thirteen boys from Scout Troop 51 at Our Lady of Consolation parish earned Ad Altare Dei medals during a weekend retreat by the Toledo Diocese at Camp Berry near Findlay. Jack and Jill Nursery School begins at Methodist Church

Bridge Collapse Sends Truck Into Ditch Near Carey

Donald E Clark escaped injury when the bridge at the end of his lane off Route 103 two miles southwest of Carey collapsed Tuesday of last week. He drove a 1952 Ford truck hauling about 200 bushels of corn. most of the load was saved, with minor damage to the truck after two sills failed and spilled the grain into the ditch.

Carey Family Enjoys Weeklong Tour To Indiana Tennessee

Mr and Mrs Earl Buckingham, their sons Richard and Michael, and Miss Wanda Mullholand returned from a weeklong trip visiting Knoxville Oak Ridge and Colorado Springs. They toured the Oak Ridge Atomic Energy facility and saw Colorado landmarks during their journey. They also halted near Hillsboro and Danville in Indiana and visited Fort Knox in Kentucky where Mr ODeil and Mr Buckingham served in 1941.

Swan Rubber Co. Workers Approve New Pact

Swan Rubber Co. employees approved a new contract in wage talks with U.R.C.1L PWA AFL CIO Local 414. The plan raises hourly wages by 10 cents and 8 cents for certain press classifications, plus fully paid hospitalization sickness accident and life insurance. The raise takes effect Aug 20. The contract runs until Nov 1 with negotiations to follow.

Friars Defeat K of C in Close Softball Game

The friars of Our Lady of Carey Seminary defeated the Knights of Columbus 11 to 10 in a student field softball game Monday evening. Afterward both groups and families shared a wiener roast at the field. A family ball game is planned Tuesday at Carey Memorial Park with refreshments.

Living In New Home On Wallace Passet Farm
