Carey’s Pool installs a complete water analysis laboratory in the filters plant to test pool water four times daily. The primary aim is to ensure perfectly safe swimming water and inform patrons of the exact water contents on request. If water quality is not safe, the pool will close.
Over the first two operation months 211015 persons swam at the pool. Season passes used by 5983 swimmers and 5032 paid 35 and 20 cents each. Volume included 162 masses with 37 family passes 84 adults and 41 juniors. An average of 174 swimmers per day with a high of 475 on Sunday June 25. The pool closed only 8 days.

Chief petty officer Cc. C. Simonis Jr of Brooklyn has been ordered to report for duty August 21. His parents Mr and Mrs Cc C Simonis learned of the news in a telephone conversation with him last Thursday. He served six years in the navy including World War I.

A Long Lake fishing tale from Phelps Wisconsin reports Mrs. Keller and Mrs. Bricely sighting a 32 inch musky leap into their boat while perch fishing. The fish was killed using a boat oar and the party from Upper Sandusky and Carey Ohio was thrilled by the catch after a 24 week trip.

They include Charles Moses Roy Balliet William Junier Hunter Robert Wright and others. first from the county to report since the Korean crisis began. Thirteen men are called for Tuesday August 22. Robert Gibson and Thomas Courtad of the naval reserve were notified to report but later excused.

Mr and Mrs Joe Bolander of Toledo formerly of Tiffin were notified their son William Bolander is missing in action in Korea since July 26 He was among the first to leave the United States after hostilities began His army enlistment expired three days after he left Mrs Bolander is a cousin of Mrs Ed Campbell of S Patterson street

George Simonis, 57, a Tiffin printer and pressman, was crushed to death at 10 55 am Saturday when his car skidded on loose gravel and overturned near Ashland. He was en route to Akron to fetch his wife visiting her sister who is recovering from surgery.
Susann Kin of west of New Riegel recently returned home from Toledo where she received polio treatment. The Carey Times reported she had been a patient in Maumee Valley hospital with most care at Opportunity House Crippled Children’s hospital.

A 19 46 Packard sedan owned by Veronica Brennan of Dayton was badly burnt Tuesday afternoon in a flash fire at Ward's Marathon Station at Findlay and Patterson Streets. Firemen say gasoline sprayed around the area after the car’s gas tank was filled, but the cause of ignition remains undetermined. The interior of the car was ruined and the exterior damaged. the owner was visiting for a pilgrimage and planned to return home.
Mr and Mrs Samuel Gunther and daughters Sandra and Glenda returned home after a three month motor journey through 15 states. They visited Albuquerque Prescott Phoenix and Flagstaff enjoyed the Grand Canyon Petrified Forest and Mammoth Cave and joined Prescott Frontier Days rodeo and events. Glenda played clarinet with the high school band and the family relaxed with swimming and golf at many stops.
William Cook and Delbert Mar of northwest of Carey spent Sunday to Friday at the Urbana Aberdeen Angus show and sale with 9 head from the Burson-Cook herd on display. Orville Cook Sr attended shows in Kentucky and Illinois August 3 to 8, then joined Urbana trip, returning Friday evening.

Edward Schalk of Alvada reported the theft of a calf Monday night August 14. The animal was chained in front of the Schalk home on US Route 28 when it was taken.

The Carey Merchants beat Merion 7 to 3 on Sunday night in cool weather. Tony Fabiani started and pitched three innings, allowing three hits and one run, followed by Herman Fredritz who gave up three hits but no runs. Henry Fredritz closed the game with two hitless innings as Merchants score three in the first and final two runs in the eighth to seal the 7 3 win.
Kay Ann Savey spent Tuesday and Wednesday with Jeannine Brown while en route to Toledo to visit relatives. The first meeting of Pen Pals members of the Larry York Hobby Club, sponsored by Clover Farm stores, connected Jeannine with 14 members including one in Bogota Colombia studying English.
Mrs Edward Bakies broke her right wrist when she slipped on a wet sidewalk in front of 108 North Street. The accident happened as her husband and son Leonard, visiting from Milan Michigan, prepared to return home after painting there this summer.

Mrs. E. G. Snyder broke a metatarsal bone in her left foot last Thursday evening after slipping on the porch steps at 139 West Brown Avenue. Her foot was placed in a cast and she can walk with crutches.
