Totals per candidate show A B C D and Crawford A B columns with overall tallies. Names include Frank A. Dyell Walter F. Heer John H. Sweeney and William C. Dixon among others.
Mr and Mrs Carl Fruth of West Independence have bought the 60 acre estate farm of the late O P Thomas located five miles northwest of Carey Chloe Thomas is Mrs Fruth formerly daughter of V V Thomas and Mrs Thomas.

Lloyd A. Sworden, new to the Williams property on W Findlay street, brought a bouquet of large colorful dahlias to The Carey Times office. Grown in Vanlue with 80 plants across 50 varieties, the listed blooms include Heart of Milwaukee His Eminence Elissa Landi Ida V. Warner Thomas Edison My Delight and Mason's Purple Beauty.
The Carey boys 4 H club will broadcast on WMRN Marion on August 15 at 12 30 pm. The program covers dairy cattle project discussions by Ted Wonder Donald Karcher and Reid Heck and market lamb project by Bernard Karcher Vincent Derr and John Niederkohr.
Lester Wagner and James Kramer enlisted in the Marines after passing physical exams in Cleveland on Tuesday. Lester is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Wagner of N. Vance Street, James the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Kromer, west of Carey.

Mr and Mrs A G Wisner and son LaVaun from west of Carey attended the 47th annual Waltermire family reunion held Sunday at Island Park Mt Blanchard with a large attendance.
The 4 Legion thanks Carey and nearby residents for two weeks of record and card collections. Hundreds of items have been gathered and will be shipped this week. more donations are welcome through Legion or Auxiliary members. Volunteers are asked to help pack shipments Thursday and Friday evenings at the Legion hall.
Students in Ohio Wesleyan University's wartime accelerated program completed eight weeks of study on August 8. Notable names include Miss Ellen Frazier. Talmage Huston and Joe Newhard. The year’s session was the largest in history with three men for every woman and high demand in pre medicine chemistry and business administration courses.
Lewis Summerell, aged 10, son of Mr and Mrs Bonnie Summerell of S Lake street, tended a private garden with Lima beans tomatoes Oxheart Beefsteak and Italian varieties plus popcorn. Last Thursday four ripe tomatoes weighed nearly a pound each and were brought to The Carey Times office.
Pvt. John M. Dow stationed at Camp Claiborne Louisiana telephoned his mother Mrs D A Dow east of Crawford last Thursday evening for a long distance birthday greeting. The line was clear and both families heard the conversation in Ohio and Louisiana. His father also spoke with him.
Carl Tucker, son of Mr and Mrs Clarence Tucker of Worello Street, was brought home in the Golf am bulance last Thursday from Find lay hospital. He is recovering well from an emergency appendectomy performed July 26 and marked his 10th birthday anniversary during the hospital stay.
A Social Security Board representative from the Marion field office will hold office hours from 3 to 4 pm on Wednesday August 19 at the Carey municipal building. N C Syracopoulos acting Marion manager announced the event.

The Carey fire department sponsors a three ring circus featuring aerialists, acrobats, animals including Goliath the 5 ton elephant, and high speed thrillers. Fire department will take 50 percent of adult advance tickets and offer reduced matinee rates for children. Tickets available at Jacob's Soda Grill, The Dairy, or from a fireman.
Miss Wealthy Wentling and a group including Mrs Cora Hart Arlene Rickle Mrs William Heck Mrs Harry Stoll Mrs Arthur Rader Mrs Florence Daymon and Rev and Mrs B L Lee attend the 72nd annual encampment at Camp Sychar Mt Vernon this week. They left Tuesday and plan to return today or Friday. Wentling drove part of the group and Daymon and Rev and Mrs Lee rode with Rev and Mrs EB Haldeman of Fostoria.
Two Carey students, C. G. Laird and H. F. Davidson, received bachelor of science in education degrees Friday night at Bowling Green State University August commencement. Carey attendees included Mrs. H. F. Davidson and son Charles, Mrs. C. G. Laird and daughters Patsy and Peggy, Mrs. Urban Hoops, Mrs. Edmond Pahl, and Dorothy McBeth.
Gearld Eingle and Garld Pahl, sons of local residents, left for Marion to be inducted into the United States Naval Reserves after enlisting earlier. They expect to report to Great Lakes for training.
The Young Married People’s class of Memorial Evangelical Sunday School plans a picnic Saturday at Mr and Mrs Cloyce Rader’s home north of Carey. Dinner is at noon followed by games including ball and horseshoes and other pastimes.

Eugene Hendricks, local wool buyer, shipped a carload of wool weighing 18 000 pounds on Monday. This season he has shipped 120 000 pounds of wool, 30 000 pounds more than last year.

Mrs. Agnes Shull of E South Street Carey reports her three sons are in service. Harold F. Shull serves with Company B in the 1st Signal Armored Battalion at Camp Young Indo Calif, called to training over two years ago. Clyde Shull, a civilian clerk at Fort Bragg, N C, has served since earlier this year with Battery A 34th Field Artillery Battalion, Fort Bragg, N C.
The American Legion state convention meets in Canton on August 16 17 and 18. Earl Green Post 344 is sending delegates Orville Wohlgamuth and Clarence Suber with M. D. Shafer and L. L. Bland as alternates. Commander L L Bland urges strong attendance.
Christ Lutheran Church holds its annual picnic on Sunday August 23 at Carey Park. Dr Paul R Clouser of Middletown PA will speak at the morning worship. The committee chaired by Mrs M D Shafer includes Howard Snyder F O Abel Mrs Martha Spensler and Calvin Calahan.
The Woman's preneat association will hold a business meeting and pot luck supper at the home of Mrs Hugh Kurtz west of Carey Friday evening at 7 o'clock. Each member should bring an article for the monthly auction and meet promptly at 6 30 at the Moose Hall.
Everett Laney and Harold Ritter, both of Carey, left Monday at 3 30 a m on their way to Pearl Harbor where they will serve in the main maintenance branch of the armed forces. Mr Laney signed up as a black smith and Mr Ritter as a machinist. They are civil service employes.
Harold Ritter age 15 in Seneca county was sentenced to the Boys Industrial School for alleged automobile thefts in Fostoria and reported to have escaped. Fifteen other boys also escaped from the Lancaster institution.
Troop I and Troop II of the Girl Scouts will gather at 6 30 PM Monday evening in Christ Lutheran Church. Fred O Abel leads the first aid instruction and all members are urged to attend.

Harold Turnbell son of Mr and Mrs Harry Turnbell Carey has advanced to corporal in the training corps at Ohio State University Columbus as part of recent promotions among non commissioned men in Engineers Regiments of the Reserve Officers Training Corps announced by Colonel Otto L Brunzell commander Many of these men also belong to the Army Enlisted Reserve Corps
Nine relatives of Rev. Donald W. Cryer attended Sunday morning service. The visitors included Mr. and Mrs. Walter B. Cryer and daughter Virginia of North Baltimore, Mr. and Mrs. Earl W. Cryer of Dearborn Michigan, Mr. and Mrs. William Cryer of Rochester Michigan, and Air Cadet E H Cryer of Maxwell Field Alabama with his wife from Cleveland.
Arden Daryle Moser, son of Mr and Mrs Earl Moser of Upper Sandusky, will appear on the Morris B Sachs amateur radio program Sunday August 16 at 6 pm. He travels from Carey to Chicago to visit his aunt Mrs Kate Shiveler and will broadcast over Station ENR on about 89 ki a throat whistle number.
A handsome yellow dahlia grown by Mrs Olive Donelson was shown in The Carey Times office over the weekend. The bloom measured 8 inches across and was one of eight blossoms on the same stalk.
