The annual August Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation runs August 8 to 16 with special services on August 9 14 15 and 16. Bishop Karl J Alter will celebrate the great public reception on August 16. Various trains from Columbus Cleveland Toledo Youngstown Akron Indianapolis Detroit and other points will shuttle pilgrims to Carey for the events.

Racing Driver Gail Lanker Dies From Track Crash
Gail Lanker of Carey died at Harper hospital Detroit after a Friday race crash. He never regained consciousness after a brain operation. Lanker, 30, was attempting to break a track record when hurled over a wall into bleachers. He worked as a C&O mechanic for 13 years and was an accomplished racer. Funeral held at Christ Lutheran church with large turnout.⌁
