Sparks from a passing train likely started a blaze on the Wyandot County Home farm Sunday afternoon. Wharton and Upper Sandusky volunteer fire departments responded after a 2 45 p m call as flames surrounded the buildings. About two acres of stubble and pasture were burned.

Carey Man Rescues Five From Lake Erie
Dean Fout of S Vance Street rescued four boys and a man from Lake Erie after a 10 or 11 year old stepped off a sandbar while fishing between Catabwa Point and Mouse Island. Three companions attempted a rescue and were swept away. Fout found and saved them with his boat using life jackets. He was aided by Opal Laney.
