Mrs J L Yohe returns from Toledo to Tolde to aid daughter Gertrude Yohe a patient at Robinwood Hospital. Gertrude underwent last week a major operation for adhesions from a 11 year old appendicitis and now faces mumps complicating her recovery, with two nurses caring for her under quarantine.
Mrs. H. L. Wenner is authorized to sell and fit the Charis corset. The garment is available only through special representatives and not in stores. Call for appointments to view and try the chair styled corset at 124 W. North St. Phone Y344.
Women of Mooseheart Legion call all members to attend a Tuesday April 30 practice. On May 8 the local Legion hosts Findlay Fostoria and other chapters at Knights of Pythias hall with the Findlay chapter exemplifying initiatory work.
The Carey Farmers Community Club will hold a meeting next Monday evening April 29 to debate why crime is so prevalent in the country and the best means to loosen it.
The Waite high school band of 40 pieces presented a varied program under Guy V. Sutphen in the school auditorium. Notable pieces included John Philip Sousa works and selections from The Vagabond King and The Mikado. Kenneth Wendt and Glen Martin performed a horn duet. Henry Page, donor of the purple and gold uniforms, attended as guest of honor. the athletic association sponsored the concert.

The Girl Scouts of Carey will hold a bake sale Saturday starting at 2 oclock at the Rest Room. Patrons are invited to support the event with purchases from the assortment of baked goods.
Last Friday evening a school program entertained the public featuring the Home Economics club with Dinner Is Served and Rooms To Let by the Little Theatre club. Jack Heck played cornet, Doris Rifehle gave a reading, James Lindsay and Tommy Stombaugh performed vocal solos, the Science club presented an electrical demonstration, and the orchestra offered several selections.
The Sophomores hosted a chapel program with Cloyce Wentling giving the invocation. Guest speaker Mr. Pflueger, a Carey high graduate, spoke about nine years of forestry work in the Philippine Islands and showed photographs to illustrate his experiences. The program closed with announcements.
A chapel program last Friday benefited the Carey high school band led by Mr. Simons who could attend only on Friday. Invoca tion was given by Helen Gottfried. The program featured several band pieces and was enjoyed by the students.
Carey's negative team won at Crestline while the affirmative team lost by a small margin. The Crestline negative side edged Carey by a slim point total in the afternoon debate.
Doneth earpster presents a light hearted comedy at the high school auditorium Friday evening April 26. Admission is 35 cents for adults and 25 cents for children with reserved seats on sale Thursday afternoon at 4 50 at Ewines Cavey seniors sponsor the event.
The annual has gone to press and returns before school ends. The Senior class play Daddy Long Legs will be presented Friday evening May 10 with the cast of characters to be announced later.
Carey scored more first places but lost the meet 52 to 70 at Findlay in a rain drizzled dual. Robison and M Heck starred with multiple top finishes including high points for Carey in sprints jumps and distance. Diller Nachbar Walters and others also contributed scores for the squad.
Our Lady of Consolation Shrine opens Saturday with evening prayers and benediction. Sunday Mass at 7:30 features Holy Communion for Catholic Knights of Ohio. a morning procession from Frenchtown leads to the new shrine church for a 10:30 Solemn High Mass with a sermon by Leonard Wren. A 3 pm service and 8 pm candle procession follow.
Miss Doris Marie Presler and Mr. Ralph Hotelling of Carey were married Saturday at the Evangelical parsonage in Mansfield by Rev. W Elmer Bailey. The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Wilford Presler of Springville. The groom is the son of Andrew Hotelling near Carey. They will live on Brown Avenue and Mr Hotelling works at the Auto Site in Fostoria.
Mr. and Mrs E C Walker and F A Galbroner visited Columbus on business. Mr Walker, local agent for Hocking Valley for 37 years, retires due to ill health. Galbroner has been acting agent for several months. Friends regret the retirement of a notably successful agent.
The Adriana Rebekah lodge hosts an ice cream social at the IOCF hall in Adrian on Tuesday evening April 30. Homemade ice cream cake sandwiches and coffee will be served. A play titled Why They Joined the Rebekahs will also be presented. Admission is 5 and 10 cents.

The local WCTU will hold a meeting Friday evening at seven o clock with Mrs L M Covuk in attendance.
Betts and Walters place in a 220 yard dash with Betts first and Findlay second. Gardner leads in high jump with Findlay winning and Derts bach taking third. Diller and Carey share second. Height noted as 4 feet 11 inches.
In two weeks Carey travels to Columbus to enter the Ohio Relays. Plans urge supporters to attend and cheer the team. The article notes a trip to Columbus a week from next Saturday to back Carey for the Ohio Relay cup.
A four thirty p.m. dual relay between Carey and Upper Sandusky will use the mile distance between towns. Carey enters 20 runners from the physical education department to race half miles. The Kiwani club offers a large cup to winners and hopes for a Carey victory. Della Lessig of Findlay joined Carey high school as a junior this week, the second junior class addition this year.
J W Stuber of Columbus urges replacement of fish and wildlife in Ohio and a new state conservation department to boost forests waters and game. He cites license revenue and Canada style restocking, praises Chief Thompson and Green, and invites farmers to join the Fish and Game Association to protect property rights while expanding hunting and fishing opportunities.
Adam Decker of Cleveland died Sunday from paralysis after an eight month struggle. His wife of Mrs C PD Sheridan, who lived west of town, died two weeks ago. Funeral services for Decker were held in Elyria on Wednesday.
Announcement of the marriage between Earl LeMott of Akron, son of Mr and Mrs W LeMott, and Miss Buefird Burroway of Akron. The ceremony occurred in New Philadelphia on January 17.
The Hancock county Sunday schools plan an annual convention in Vanlue on Sunday May 5. The program includes morning and afternoon sessions at local churches with addresses by Rev. C. R. Archer Rev. F. A. Shults and Ray C. M. Young, plus music and discussions on church school standards.
Carey Kiwanis club and Wyandot Y M C A stage a boys relay between Carey and Upper Sandusky on Friday April 26 at 4 30 pm. Twenty two runners from each school will race an eleven mile course, half mile laps, with a silver cup awarded to the winner.
The Kiwanis Club hosted 50 Farmers Community Club members at a Catholic hall banquet Friday evening. High school jazz orchestra performed as Rev Paul R Clouser Dr W N Johnson Gail Kurtz and Carl Kothler sang. Harper Garcia Smyth Domestic Electric Cleveland gave the address about Keeping In Tune.
The Delaware district conference of the AL EL church will be held May To and at the local MIE church. May 7 features a banquet in the church recreational hall followed by a speech by Dr Soper president of Ohio Wesleyan University. All are invited to attend.
