Public School News Briefs and Upcoming Events

Viktoria Thomas reports on school events and tests. April 28 included a 0 wrecks note and senior activities. Upcoming dates: May 4 junior-senior banquet May 12, senior farewell May 14, Baccalaureate May 15-16, exams May 18, commencement exercises. 8th grade state tests were given last Friday morning. A junior class party occurred last Tuesday at the high school. Civil service exams were offered to commercial class students last Monday.

Joyce Snyder Wins Luther League Declamation First

Joyce Snyder a Carey high school freshman won first place in the Luther League declamation contest at Christ Lutheran Church last Sunday morning. Donald Krebs a junior was named alternate with Rosemary Rook Barbara Johnson Richard Bland and Dorothy Thomas among others praised by judges Mary McKinney Ralph Vogel and Myron Millar. Declamations were by Lutheran Synod of Ohio chaplains now serving abroad. The Luther League of Ohio sponsors the annual contest progressing to district and conference levels with four finalists at Lakeside July 21. Joyce will represent Christ Church Luther League at the district contest to be announced soon.

Pythian Sisters News Dinner For Carey Temple Members

The Past Chiefs' association will entertain Carey temple No 169 Pythian Sisters with a 7 o'clock dinner on Thursday followed by a regular temple meeting.
