Easter services at the Evangelical Church drew strong crowds despite rain. Nearly 300 in Sunday school and 90 in the youth department filled the church, with gifts, baptisms, and a First Easter cantata planned for next week after a church attendance contest with Upper Sandusky.
The EB L C of Memorial Evangelical church will hold its monthly and social meeting Friday April 28 in the church basement.
I O O F NOTICE announces a special meeting of Carey Lodge No 407 on Thursday evening April 20 all members urged to attend.
Joseph C. Wehrle died Sunday afternoon at his Adrian home from a heart attack. Funeral services were held at the home with Rev. A C Rainsberger officiating. Burial took place in Baker cemetery. Pallbearers included EB Mullholand of Carey and several Adrian residents. He was a farmer, Odd Fellow, married to Emma Ewing in 1889, and survived by a foster son Fred Ewing and several siblings.
We express sincere thanks to neighbors and friends who kindly assisted us during our recent bereavement for Mr and Mrs Fred Ewing.
The Young Ladies Sodality of Our Lady of Consolation hosts a supper and dance at the parish hall Thursday evening April 20. Supper from 6 to 8 features Swiss steak mashed potatoes lima beans perfection salad pie and coffee with Hagerman’s Orchestra of Fostoria providing music. Admission is 25 cents including everything.

Carey Council members urged to attend as K of C hall hosts Friday night ceremony at 8 with two candidates. Refreshments follow the degree work.
All W B A members are requested to be present Friday evening for initiation. The meeting begins promptly at 7 30 pm with practice for the fancy drill to be performed at the district meeting in Friday May first. A pot luck supper will follow.
Union League meeting scheduled for Sunday evening at 6 30 at Christ Lutheran Church. The Luther League will provide the leader and the Epworth League will present special numbers on the program.
The Vacation Church School will run four weeks starting Monday at 9:00 am at Christ Lutheran Church. Registration for ages four to fourteen is Thursday or Friday afternoons this week. The program features four departments with trained teachers and Bible based study, morning sessions 9 to 11, and is open to all children regardless of church affiliation.
The Springville school district stages He's My Pal at the Springville school building four miles north of Carey on the Carey and Fostoria road this Friday April 21. Cast features Tom Spark Lon Phillips Wally Allen John Myers Ma Averill Lark Marie Summer Calvin McCay Mrs Blossom McCay and more. Show starts at 8 15 PM with admission 15 cents and cake walks after under Miss Elizabeth Myers.
All members are requested to attend the regular meeting Tuesday evening April 25 to conduct important business. Final plans will be made for the trip to the get-together in Fostoria on the 26th.
A group of poems by Mrs. John Twining was aired on WAIU in Columbus Tuesday at 8 15 am. Included works titled My Joys Little Shoes Spring Came Today April Breezes Spring s Return Look Around and dedicated to mothers.
A meeting of the Carey High School alumni association will be held in the library on Tuesday evening next week April 25 at 8 00 oclock.
The regular meeting of Crawford chapter No. 168 O E S will be held Friday evening at 7 30.
Salem high school held baccalaureate services on April 23 with Rev. E D Paulin as speaker. Commencement is set for Thursday evening, April 27, with James Guyer of Findlay college delivering the class address. Justine Orians is valedictorian, Helen Berg salutatorian, and Ellen Wolfe to read the prophecy. Ardella Koehler offers the class history. Virginia Snyder, the class willy. other members include Garnett Kinsey, Bertha Moar, Boater Roszmans, and Atletis Sarte. Junior senior banquet at Osborne's club rooms in Upper Sandusky featured toasts by Luella Pfeifer, Martha Schoenberger, Norman Altvater, Ardella Koehler, and Foster Roszman. A vocal solo by Miss Price and a duet by Virginia Snyder and Justine Orians were well received. Class motto Our aim success our hope to win. Class flower lily of the valley. colors green and silver. Faculty: Supt C J Rasmus, D W Oman, Miss Marie Chandler, Miss Eloise Price.
The Carey Kiwanis Club will entertain the Community Club at a supper meeting Monday at the Galt Hotel dining room. Dr. Ray Fife, head of the state department for vocational agricultural education, will speak. The program includes instrumental music and possibly a Kiwanis Quartet number.
Mr and Mrs Harry Bowman and daughter Betty attended funeral services for Mrs Bowmans brother in law E L Hardwick 47 at Grace Evangelical church Burial was in Arlington cemetery He died after several weeks illness He is survived by wife and three children Bernadine Ruth and Billy all at home The Bowman family also attended the funeral of Mr Bowmans grandfather Henry Bowman at Arlington Tuesday afternoon
Members are asked to attend the regular meeting at 8:00 PM on Monday of next week. Officers for the coming year will be elected. The program is organized by J. T. Myers, G. R. McKee and Frank Miller with feed provided by Fred Powell, Wm. Pontius and Lon Phillips.
John Snook recalls 1883 as a very wet spring and season that kept farmers from field work. The A C Y narrow gauge railroad project provided many farmers with construction labor during that period.
An 8-pound daughter named Matilda Mary was born Friday morning to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Shultz of New Riegel. Mrs. Shultz is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Guttenberg of north of town. A 90-pound son was born Monday morning to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sammet, two miles west of town.
The regular meeting of the Rebekah lodge will be held Tuesday evening of next week April 25. Practice and a social hour will follow.
Easter Sunday at the Methodist church drew large crowds from dawn service through morning worship. A baptism for children followed the Easter message “The Easter Story in the Light of Today,” with 11 new members admitted and a cantata performed by junior and primary departments.
The Wyandot county contract bridge tournament begins Friday night April 21 with three weekly sessions. Players must partner with a different player each week and scores are kept on a percentage basis to crown the top scorer the trophy winner. The American Legion Auxiliary hosts a benefit card party at Legion rooms Thursday April 27 at 8 PM. Public invited. bridge euchre and pinochle offered with prizes for high scores. Refreshments served by four hosts. admission 25 cents.
The Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society of Christ Lutheran Church met at the parish house on Wednesday afternoon. President Miss May Mullholand led the devotional service while Mrs W G Bradley conducted the lesson on The Missions in China. Miss Stella Nye read the fifth chapter of The American Indians.
On next Thursday evening a pest campaign supper will be served at the Catholic parish hall at 7 00 oclock. The mothers of the East Side members will prepare the meal and games will follow. Members are urged to notify one another.
The Order of the Rose will meet Friday at 2 30 PM to practice for initiation. All members are urged to attend as preparations continue.

Mrs. J D Carothers died Friday evening at her home north of town after a short illness from a stroke of paralysis. She had been in declining health the past two years but was not bedfast until the last illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church with Rev Paul Ak Clouser presiding. A quartet sang Abide With Me and That Wonderful, Tanaara Taterment was performed. Pallbearers included Robert Dow of Tiffin, Dow, John Dow, A C Berry, Dean McGill and Andrew Collet. She was born here 73 years ago to Alvin and Dorcas Dow and married J D Carothers Oct 25 1883. Surviving are her husband, a foster son A C Berry of Three Rivers, Mich., one brother and three sisters W S Dow and Mrs Herbert Bixby of Long Beach Calif, Mrs A A Kaley of Red Cloud Neb, Mrs J M Brown of Jacinto, Calif. One brother J C Dow preceded her. Foster grandson Richard Berry of Three Rivers also survives. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for 48 years. Her life was spent in this community. Out-of-town attendees included Dr and Mrs Lehr, James Beitler and Frank Beitler of Arlington, A C Berry and son Richard of Three Rivers, Mich, Mr and Mrs Dell Wier and daughter and H T Shull and son Ray of Findlay, Mr and Mrs Fred Sammet of Upper Sandusky, Mr and Mrs W C Summit of near Kirby, Robert Dow of Tiffin, and Mr and Mrs M S Green and Mr and Mrs Don Stewart of Toledo.
We express gratitude to neighbors and friends who gave time and assistance during illness and at the death of our wife and dear friend Rosa Summit. J. D. Carothers accompanies Rosa Summit’s family thanks those who supported them.
A six week training course in the Boy Scouts program will begin Monday April 24 at 8 p m in the junior room of the Lutheran parish house Carey. Arthur Brooks Marion Scout Executive will lead with local patrol leaders assisting. Participants will form a model troop and receive a National Council certificate. Supt W L Arnholt chairs the event inviting all interested men.
Marion C Smalley D C a Palmer School graduate will open an office at 247 W Findlay St in the upper duplex owned by Mrs Alletha Newcomer. He will practice straight chiropractic with the exception of X ray. Smalley formerly lived in New Washington.
The Legion Auxiliary will meet next Monday at 8:00 PM in the Legion rooms. The social committee includes Miss Martha Schira Mrs C C Simonis Mrs Grover Snyder and Mrs Ross Johnson.
