High School Holy Week Service Draws Seven Meditations

On Thursday afternoon April 10 the Y Teens presented a religious service for Holy Week at the high school. Seven girls gave meditations on the seven last words of the cross. Jane Walter sang There Is a Midnight on Olive's Brow and Hileen Mott sang There Is a Green Hill Far Away. Charlotte Tucker led devotionals. The service closed with Rock of Ages.

Carey High School Teaches Temperance Quiz Book Program

Carey High School cooperates with the Temperance League of Ohio to run a two week course based on the Fundamental Facts Concerning Beverage Alcohol. Juniors and seniors study science social status and legal aspects with periodic quizzes and a final test for all students. The top boy and girl win a chance to compete in Upper Sandusky for county finalists with trips to Washington D C and New York City. Past years produced county winners.

Concerts Form from Hopewell Loudon and Carey Bands

Two combined high school bands from Hopewell Loudon and Carey proceed with plans for two concerts. About 140 musicians will perform under directors Burton Goetz and Hawk with an outdoor Carey show. Bascom High on April 30 and Carey on May 7 at 2 p.m. invited for public attendance.

Reunion on Guam Delights Navy Sailor and Air Corps Brother

Jim Robinson and Donald Callahan, sons of two Ohio families, met on Guam after Jim arrived April 3. Donald had traveled from Carey to surprise him, but their time together was brief as Donald returned to gunner school the next day. Jim serves in the Navy while Donald is in the Air Corps.

Red Cross fund short of goal as aid continues

The Red Cross fund stood at about $1,300 on Tuesday, $200 short of the $1,500 goal. There were no factory employee solicitations this year beyond homes, and solicitors are asked to contact Mrs. Li. The organization is burdened by relief for recent funerals and tornado victims, with a hearing on the matter noted.

Mr and Mrs Maurice Gaster moved Saturday into their new 322 West North Street residence. The single story five room house features radiant glass heat with embedded 18 by 24 inch glass panels for wall mounted electrical controls. Mrs. Ira Hablitzel president of the Carey Band Mothers has named committees for the Spring dance at Carey High School on April 25. Baseball Team Organized in Carey

A baseball team named the Baughman Auto Parts has been organized in Carey and plans a full season. Manager Lester Keckler will lead the squad with infielders Dave Yingling Don Orians Robert Donelson William Yingling and Dallas Bland, outfielders Paul England Lewie Buckingham Wendell Myers William Rettig and Don Yingling, and pitchers Barney Underwood and Red Buckholtz. first game slated for the latter part of May.

14 Year Old Suffers Hemorrhages Near Carey

Mark Davidson aged 14 son of Mr and Mrs John Davidson of south of Carey was treated at Blanchard Valley hospital from Tuesday to Thursday last week for hemorrhages seen throughout Tuesday. A Toledo specialist examined him and four X rays were taken but the hemorrhage source, likely in the chest, was not found. He was allowed to return to school only for study and must refrain from activity. A Toledo hospital examination is planned within weeks.

Enders, chairman of the 1952 American Cancer Society Cancer Crusade, urged clergy to participate in prayer for cancer control. Rev. Arthur M.
