Thirty three Carey high school students will travel to Ohio Northern University in Ada to compete in the State Scholarship Tests on May 3. PFC Robert G Mitsch Route 2 Carey Ohio serves on the mud bogged eastern front in Korea with the 25th Infantry Division. His unit and attached Turkish brigade hold a battle line northwest of the Punchbowl. Mitsch is an aidman in the medical company of the 35th Infantry Regiment. Local youth selected for Naval Reserve Officers Training
Thomas A. Gibbins of Carey Ohio has been chosen for the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps college program. From 32 000 applicants 1 800 civilian candidates were selected by the Bureau of Naval Personnel with 4650 alternates announced. The navy will subsidize education and graduates become ensigns or second lieutenants in naval or marine reserves.
