The Carey F H A chapter earned an Award of Merit from the state. At the April 25 state meeting the chapter will receive a certificate for a well rounded program and dues paid.
The Y-Teens meeting was led by president Glenda Snyder with minutes approved and roll by Barbara Elbert. Committees were formed for The Mom Pop and Me Banquet and the high school Easter service rehearsal. Mr Wilson spoke on The War and Your Life, and a joint meeting with HI Y on April 28 was invited. Al Mattoon of Findlay High spoke on vocational guidance as HI Y’s guest.
Local noon hour and after school games feature younger players from lower classes with varsity and reserve players to mix in upcoming weeks. Coach surveys potential talents such as Dick Dennison James Jacoby James Draper Richard Corron Carl Sizemore Dwight Orians Grover Stoh Richard Snook Donald Oglesbee John Greer Richard Phillips William Welsh Gerald Elchert Dan Dible Ronald Stone.
The home economics students, mostly girls, are learning refinishing furniture making dressing tables and redecorating various home articles as part of their course.
The home economics class produced 206 articles under Miss Hack over ten weeks. Indian Trail Drive-In on Route 23 between Carey and Ulp opens Easter Sunday April 13, 1952, with a new playground, landscaping and expanded facilities. A free concession stand returns offering hickory pit smoked beef pork sandwiches hot chicken hot dogs and Swift's frankfurters all sourced from reliable suppliers. Opening program Cecil B DeMille's Samson and Delilah in tech nicolor scores a strong family friendly launch.
Careguerie 2198 F O E held officer elections on Wednesday April 2 for the coming year. Officers include Worthy President Willard Barth Vice President Eugene Bees Chaplain Kenneth Maenle Conductor Alfred Frankhart Trustee 3 years George Mathern Trustee 2 years Robert Draper Trustee 1 year A J Welly Secretary until June 1 1954 Wade Speelman Treasurer Donald Oglesbee. Weekly dances begin April 12 from 8:30 to 11:30 with music by Note Crackers April 20. The aerie plans a large class initiation honoring Dr Reinhart for his past year as worthy president. Lunch and dancing follow. Carey aerie leads Northwest zone in nine month membership.
Community Good Friday services run from noon to 3 p m at First Methodist Church. Sponsored by Memorial E U B Christ Lutheran and Methodist Churches the event invites the public. Six ministers share meditations on the Seven Last Words with special music. Businesses will close during the service to allow attendance.
On April 14 the Poverello Credit Union marks its second anniversary with a parish hall dance at 8:00 p.m. The event features music by the Poverello Orchestra and a door prize. Treasurer Miss Hilda Jacob reports 415 members with savings of 44121.85, six members owing 43060.77, and loans totaling 70414.78 to 121 members since organization on April 14, 1950.
George Remlinger has been summoned as a petit juror in the federal court in Toledo. He reported to the United States courthouse there at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Cub Scout pack No. 58 announces a bake sale Saturday morning April 26 at Dible's plumbing shop. Proceeds go to pack activities. Local residents invited to donate or attend.
Easter at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church features a 7 30 pm Holy Communion service this evening. Additional communion after the 6:30 and 10:30 Sunday services, with sunrise sermon by Joseph Kramer of Hamma Divinity School. Music includes Panis Angelicus and The Holy City.
The Catholic Shrine marks Holy Week with palm blessing at the 10:30 Mass. Holy Thursday features a High Mass at 8:36 a m and a procession of altar ways. The Carey High School Band earned a Superior Rating at District II competition and qualified for the State Final Band Competition at Otterbein College Westerville on April 29. This is the third Superior in four years, with "Storm King March" warm up and "Horizon Overture" as a selected number and "Donna Juanita Overture" as the required piece under the Ohio Music Education Association.

Mr and Mrs Harry Bowman have completed plans for a six room ranch style house with a double attached garage to be built on the east side of High street between Findlay and South streets. The 60 by 32 foot frame home will feature stone trim and sit on a 75 by 140 foot lot purchased from Miss Millie Miller.

Co. C. Thome underwent a major operation at 10 a.m. Monday and is recovering as well as expected. His wife visits daily. The Thomes’ son in law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. William Dolch of West Lafayette arrived last Friday. Dolch returned home Monday. His wife will remain for several weeks.
The Carey Kiwanis Club held Ladies Night with 27 members two Junior Kiwanis and 27 guests. Dinners were served in Gibbins dining room followed by a theatre party. Clyde Jenkins and George Snyder scheduled April activities and a guest speaker from Columbus was announced for next week.
Firefighters were called Wednesday forenoon when sparks from a bonfire ignited the barn roof behind Joe Clark’s house at 511 East Findlay Street. Damage was slight. The property formerly belonged to Walter Payne.
Mrs Gertrude Orians of 254 Findlay Street suffered a heart attack in her home early Friday. She was later taken to the home of her son-in-law and daughter Mr and Mrs Vincent Arnold east of Carey where she will remain until recovery. Her condition is improving and she is able to be up some of the time.

Mr and Mrs Sam Newcomer buy the Marquet ranch on Route 15 northwest of Carey with two acres. They plan to move in two weeks with Betsy and Roger. Mrs Newcomer will run the root beer stand this summer with help from her husband. The Marquets move to Mt Blanchard and Mrs Helen Thomas rents the Newcomer house at 320 East Findlay Street.
George Jaster, owner of the Gamble store in Carey, will open a second shop in the Galt hotel room formerly used by Jacksons. Furniture and appliances from the Gamble store will move to the new location, with Coronado washers, dryers, refrigerators, lamps, and furniture on hand. Opening date to be announced.
Mrs Charles Drew left Saturday for Crestview Florida to join her husband Pfe Drew stationed at Eglin A F. She will stay in Florida until May when he likely will be transferred to Alaska.
The Carey Band Mothers sponsor the annual Spring dance on Friday evening April 25 at the high school. Decker's Red Shirts will provide the music for the event.
