Illustrated Sermon on Emigration and Home Mission Work

Rev. E. Luther Spaid at the Lutheran church gave an illustrated sermon on emigration from Southern and Northern Europe and Asia. The talk stressed home mission work as patriotism and the role of immigrants as future Christians and neighbors. Scandinavians were praised as among the best adopted citizens. A stormy evening did not deter a large congregation.

Flood Floods Reach Second Story As Barn Adrift Strikes Home

Mrs. Scott Long learns from sister Mrs. Anna Hayes of Marietta about a flood that reached five and a half feet in the second story. The warning allowed escape to higher ground as a floating barn battered the house and tore away most of the plaster.

County Treasurer C. E. Frederick received a letter from Carey Thursday containing a $10 bill and a $5 bill with an unsigned note stating the amount for taxes. The funds exactly cover the Carey corporation taxes on $1,500 for one year.
