Reading includes teachers' exam for County Somethings, Dr. A N Smith appointed county infirmary physician, several divorces and sales, flood reports, a typhoid death, a four ounce egg, will probates, and a fire caused by a tramp sleeping in an unoccupied house.
Arbor Day was observed by Carey High School with Supt. A J Nowlan giving a talk. The school orchestra performed as Misses Elsie Howard Katherine Hickle May Johnson and Messrs George Lytle Earl Culp Maynard Cram Ralph Beaschler Gail Kurtz Kurtz Rowalt and Robert Ewing took part. A program of orations compositions readings and a debate on repealing the fifteenth amendment followed. Misses Christine Straw Alma Bish spoke for the affirmative and Miss Hester Stahl and Mr Howard Snyder against it. Judges Misses Ruth Kurtz Gladys Zeis and Mr Earl Culp ruled for the affirmative. Many visitors attended.
Miss Dorcas Dow sixteen daughter of Mr and Mrs J C Dow of Carey was operated on for appendicitis at Kenton Hospital Monday morning. Surgeon Dr L J Russell of Cincinnati assisted by Dr Van Buren of Carey and Dr Mundy of Forest.
Word arrives that Ora Hart married in Clearwater Florida on Wednesday April 2. Details on the bride remain scarce. The couple plans a future Ohio visit and will reside at Cleveland Street in Clearwater for now.
E M Gear returns after a three month business trip through northern Missouri and Iowa. He plans to stay briefly to pack before relocating to Toledo after selling his local residence to R G Spencer.
The W. C. T. U. will hold a regular session Friday afternoon at two o'clock with Mrs. C. A. DeWitt and daughter Miss Blanche.
The Travelers' Club met at Mrs. J. A. Gibbs home on Monday for the final gathering of the season. Papers on Constantinople Athens and Greek life were presented. Officers elected for next year: president Mrs. C. W. McGill, vice president Eloise Thrall, secretary Stella Nye, treasurer Mattie Myers.
A sequence of births is announced at several area homes. Mr and Mrs John Mathias welcome a son on Friday morning north of town. Mr and Mrs Ed C Evans at Sunyside farm west of town greet a ten pound son on Thursday evening. Mr and Mrs C H Travis welcome a daughter on Thursday. Mr and Mrs Nelson Gorsuch five miles south of Carey announce a baby girl named Alary Katherine born Friday March 28.
Mayor E G Laughfin received a telegram from Mayor Walter Kepel of Tiffin thanking citizens for relief during the flood disaster. The message expresses sincere gratitude and notes the kindness will be cherished.
The Beulah Buck Quartet Concert Co. will perform next Tuesday night April 16 at Snyder's Perry House. The four members Miss Marjorie Paddock Miss Opal Taylor and Miss Harriet Jones received high praise for readings soprano solos and contralto work in turns with favorable testimonials from Lincoln Nebraska and Troy Alabama noting encores and exceptional talent. Seats reserve Monday April 14 at seven at Ewing's drug store.

The Finth city council met Monday and discussed flood prevention measures. They propose railroads build Blanchard river bridges higher with longer spans and apply the same standard to other river bridges.
G E Harper announces Frank W Prather returns as editor of the Forest Review-Advertiser. Prather brings prior newspaper experience from Missouri Indiana Texas Oklahoma and Washington DC and during the current campaign he published a Bull Moon organ.
John McGuire moves this week into the corner house on Mair and Patterson Streets after purchasing from Mrs Py Robinson. CG Spencer will move into the East Mont Street residence now occupied by McGuire.

A Saturday evening chicken supper in the Beck block raised about 75 dollars for the United Evangelical Church. A sale of containers was a feature, with proceeds earmarked to buy a new carpet for the church. The ladies thank the public for patronage.
A Loyal Temperance Union was organized Friday in School District No. 6 Crawford township. Officers elected include Leader Miss Searles Brown Secretary Mr. Ray Hunter and Treasurer Mr. Daniel Doppler. The teacher Mr Ralph Livingston offered support for the legion's work and is praised for his generosity and energy.
