Public School News Highlights Stage Cast And Honors

The stage crew prepares the operetta The Magic Bean stalk for April 21. Attendance at Carey High reaches 97.2 percent as flu effects fade. The school names 25 top students for the general merit award and announces plans for district competition and the 1939 graduating class.

New Books Added to High School Library

A few much needed books were added to the high school library. The new titles are widely used by students and spark renewed interest in reading.

The Engagement King Presented by Public Speaking Class

The Engagement King a one act play and ne verry intriguing mystery was staged by the public speaking class Monday morning. Monday afternoon the assembly enjoyed a program by the orchestra and students from Tiffin Business University. Fifth term grade cards were distributed Wednesday afternoon.

Early season tilt ends in forfeit to Sycamore

On April 5 Sycamore won by forfeit 15-14 after a batting order error. The game featured a 16-15 9th inning tie before the forfeit was declared. Carey schedules and a canceled April 11 New Riegel game follow with upcoming dates.

Students excel in spelling and arithmetic contests

Three students earned perfect spelling during the six week period and another perfect six week test. Calvin Callahan Omeda Helen Leedy and Eloise Windau achieved the high scores. Separate win in arithmetic this week went to Calvin Callahan Marceline Risner Mary Ann Joseph Omeda Helen Leedy and Eloise Windau.

Our Lady of Consolation to Present Molly Be Jolly Operetta

Purchased Hoepf Farm at public auction

Harold Kuenzli of east of Upper Sandusky bought the Charles Hoepf farm of 108% acres east of Carey in Tymochtee township for 6000 dollars at a public sale held in Upper Sandusky Saturday. Hoepf will continue to live on the farm. Frank Clouse of New Riegel acted as auctioneer.
