Mercy hospital nurses calmed bystanders as firemen battled a blaze at the Bockius home on Market Avenue. A faulty paving near the N O T tracks caused the hook and ladder truck to skid, snap an axle, and topple, narrowly sparing five firefighters. One tilerman, George Nist, was thrown but escaped unharmed.

Man Killed Jumping From Interurban Car Near Canton
An unidentified 35 year old foreign man died after leaping from a moving interurban car between Canton and New Philadelphia. He struck his head on the pavement at Dueber and Tuscarawas streets, suffered a fractured skull, was rushed to Ingleside hospital, and died. He wore work clothes and was taken to Miller Blanchard's ambulance after the crash. Doctors E D Brant and A C Brant operated.
