Kubiak Urges Finance Revision for Texas Schools
Rep Dan Kubiak chair of the House Education Committee accuses the Governor of blocking a revision of Texas school financing. He cites $109 million unexended in the State Treasury as funds available without new taxes and calls for a special session by September 1974. Baylor University to receive a $1 million endowment for an H R Gibson Chair in management development at Hankamer School of Business.

The Milam County 4-H Horse Club met September 12 in the First National Bank Conference Room. Officers elected were president Susan Angell vice president Daniel McDaniel secretary Margaret Graham treasurer Eddie Dodd reporter Janet Angell. The club viewed films on roping halter cutting and reining and a slides on judging. The next meeting is October 9 at Dr Lyle McDermott's with members judging several horse classes.

A three state trial on 18000 acres in Mississippi Louisiana and Alabama finds boll weevil eradication economically feasible with ecological methods. The test used insecticides pheromone traps sterile males and cultural controls. native populations were eliminated in core zones and suppression kept counts negligible in buffers. The committee calls for intensified research and a nationwide campaign plan.
