Cameron Noon Lions Club hosts District Governor Freddie Wolters of Bryan at a noon meeting Monday October at The Texas Restaurant. Wolters, active in Lionism since 1957, has held multiple leadership posts including Lt. Governor and District Governor elected in 1972. He is a rancher, senior VP and director of City National Bank of Bryan, active in First Baptist Church, and a World War II Army veteran.

Voters with a certificate issued since October 1 are exempt from re registration. Lost certificates or moved addresses require notifying the Cameron tax office. A Thorndale resident, Charles Wuensche owner of Ideal Motor Co, was injured when his car collided with a westbound Missouri Pacific freight train at the Thorndale railroad crossing near 4 p.m. Saturday. He was hospitalized in Taylor and later Austin. DPS and Texas Highway Patrol reported 33 August Milam County crashes with 22 injuries and no deaths, totaling 179 crashes and 87 injuries in 1973. An estimated 150 to 200 people planned to attend the Minerva Homecoming on Sunday October 7 at the Minerva Community Center with basket lunches.
Governor Dolph Briscoe backs a statewide push to have one of every three Texas boys active in Boy Scouts by 1976 and leads the 1973 Governor's Roundup for Scouting. In the 39 unit Tejas district the group aims to reach 803 scouts by December 31 with rallies in October and rewards for recruiters.
Mrs Johnny Lee Krenek of Cameron delivered five premature infants at Scott and White Hospital starting 6 48 p m on Monday. The three girls and two boys weighed under a half pound each and died shortly after birth. Mrs Krenek was in satisfactory condition.
Cameron Airpark drew Cameron and Milam County officers fire units ambulances and spectators after a hoax call from a man claiming to be Bill Mullens warned of an emergency plane landing. No aircraft appeared and responders cleared the scene by 11 p.m.
