COLLEGE STATION The U S Department of Agriculture announced a change in farm housing loan rules under Title V of the Housing Act. Effective immediately a farmowner earning at least 400 dollars annually from commodities may qualify for a loan if other tests are met. Milam County Health Department clinics in Cameron Rockdale and Thorndale saw many children for school immunizations in August. Polio vaccines remained high with 58 first shots 41 second shots and 43 third shots. Other communicable diseases included 126 streptococcal infections 5 mumps 2 measles 2 pertussis 2 gonorrhea and single cases of typhoid fever syphilis and tuberculosis. A new tuberculosis case was reported by a private physician a young Latin American child under private care. The Public Health Nurse completed a 12 hour Civil Defense course and Texas Health Department nursing consultant Ruby Lee visited Milam for two days. Schools and cafeterias were inspected for rodents and roaches with treatment provided where evidence was found.
