Grain truck overturns at US 77 and Lamar intersection
A grain truck overturned near the US 77 Lamar intersection about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday spilling tons of grain and blocking traffic. Driver Marion McLain escaped injury. the truck collided with a trailer hitched to a Ford driven by Walter Junek. Junek and his passenger Mrs. Junek also uninjured. Police reported two more nonfatal crashes later in the week with tickets for yielding and speed violations.

Cameron Independent School District PTA held its first monthly meeting at Yee High Tennis Courts. About 300 members and guests enjoyed band music by the Yee High Band under Francis Cox. The event introduced 1960-61 PTA officers and Cameron faculty, with speeches by Supt. Dr. Earl Knebel and school board trustees.

Echols Recouping From Amputation
Ed Echols, a 50 year old Sharp man, lost his right arm in a hay baler on the Evans and Wortham farm near Sharp August 23. He was found by his wife and son about 8:30 that night and flown to John Sealy Hospital in Galveston for plastic surgery. Belt burns saved his life by stopping heavy bleeding, but required further amputation of the shoulder blade and collar bone.

Two Cameronites Recovering From Accident Injuries
Mrs Anita Knipp Schofield and Griffin Barrett of Cameron are recovering from injuries after a collision on August 31 at SH 36 near West Cameron city limits. Schofield’s 1957 Ford hit a trailer driven by Earnest Kinchick who escaped injury. Barrett suffered brain concussion and facial cuts and both patients were treated at St Edward's Hospital. Sheriff said Kinchick crossed SH 36 as Schofield drove east toward Cameron. Barrett was a passenger.

Mexican Youth Found Drowned On Farm Near Burlington
A 20 year old Mexican migrant, Ruben Rodriguez, was found drowned at the bottom of a cistern on the Jerald Feshea farm northwest of Burlington. He had been missing since about 4 p m Sunday and was found Tuesday by his family, clothed only in blue jeans. Sheriff Carl Black said the Foshea farm lies near the Fallas County line and funeral arrangements were not yet decided.

Funeral for Ben Arnold resident John Rummel at United Church of Christ
John Rummel 78 of Ben Arnold died Tuesday in a Cameron hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday at the Ben Arnold United Church of Christ with Rev. Gerald Cobb officiating. Burial followed in Ben Arnold Cemetery. He was born October 24 1881 in Welcome Texas a retired farmer and member of the United Church of Christ and the Sons of Herman. Surviving are his wife Anna three daughters six sons a brother and one grandchild.
