J L Barmore of Barmore Shires Motor Company says the firm has sold 42 Star automobiles in the county to date. The new car, fully equipped, has become popular and represents a record sale for the model in this territory.
An advertisement extols Livergard as the best laxative and Lungardia as unmatched for coughs colds and sore throat. It promises quick, strong relief and notes a single trial suffices. The Lungardia Co Dallas Texas distributes through Turner's Square Drug Store.
Mayor J B White reports the Cameron sewer disposal plant plan by engineer A F Mitchell has tentative approval from the State Board of Health pending minor changes. Mitchell is in California for the American Legion convention and will return next week. Bids advertised by November 6 at the first council meeting. The plant will be river adjacent and use a closed septic system praised by health authorities.
Cameron city officials report water mains upgrades will move the city from second to first class key rate. Eight inch main completed, six inch lines to be finished by next year. New contract limits future mains to six inches for residences and eight inches for mercantile districts.
Rev. E. S. Hutcherson of Paris has been called by the Cameron Baptist church and is understood to have accepted. He preached at Cameron on Sunday and is expected to move soon to assume the Cameron pastorate at the request of former pastor Dr. L. R. Scarbrough.
A J Matula auditor for Arkio Lumber Company of Arkansas and brother of A E Matula of Milam County Lumber Company visited Cameron this week on a trip to his old home. He ordered the Herald to send to his Little Rock Arkansas address. He has worked in lumber for years and praises Arkansas as progressive with business potential.
October water readings show raw water bacteria at 2000 per cc with colonies B present and treated water at 125 per cc with colonies B absent. October 17 readings include 160 per cc with colonies B present and 88 per cc with colonies B absent. Public notices list visitors including Mr and Mrs B Strange of Bryan and L Wilson family traveling to Dallas for the Fair plus coffee brands mentioned.
Cameron Texas passes an ordinance requiring yearly rabies vaccination for all dogs. It authorizes the Sanitary Officer to vaccinate for a 2.50 fee, issue vaccination tags, maintain records, and enforce penalties including dog seizure and fines up to 100 dollars for noncompliance. The measure declares an emergency and sets the vaccination and tag system to curb rabies within the city.
Sealed proposals to J. B. White mayor will be received at the city secretary treasurer R. D. Brown for street paving in Cameron Texas until 10 am Tuesday November 6 1923. Bids cover paving with Uvalde Rock Asphalt two inches thick on an eight inch gravel base across thirty three blocks about 49500 square yards plus related work. Plans from A F Mitchell engineer. 5 percent bid bond required. City reserves right to reject any or all proposals and waive technicalities.
Public notice that cotton receipt No. 60050 in the name of W A Belt issued September 27 1923 for one bale of cotton delivered to Cameron Compress Company has been lost. The undersigned is the legal holder of the cotton and warns others not to accept or deal with the receipt.
