The town debates building a Modern Mexican school and renovating the grammar and Negro facilities amid emergency lease needs. The Commercial Club faces a new term Friday as residents urge brighter street lighting and active sports support. Knights from the nineteenth district met in Cameron Monday night at Milam Lodge No. 125 Castle Hall with Grand Chancellor W. M. Futch of Henderson presiding. The event featured speeches by Col. P. L. Downs and W. S. Lemley, a banquet at the Methodist Missionary Society, a cake presentation for Raymond Posey, and a degree conferment.
Milam county ginned 30 094 bales by September 25 1923 from the 1928 crop while 31 716 bales had been ginned by September 25 1922. Local statisticians expect higher yields but federal data suggest the 1923 crop may not exceed 1922. The up land cotton is largely out and high prices may double the value compared with 1922.

Six youths, most residents of the area, admit breaking into railroad cars for apples and fruit. City Marshall Vince Lucas reports the arrests will curb the thefts, with the boys released on their own recognizance. The Marak school opens October 15 for the 1923 24 term with Mrs Will Parma as principal and Albina Janicek as assistant.
Miss Logia Chatman was a week end visitor in Galveston. Mr and Mrs J D Fikes and Mrs Susie Sloan attended the funeral of Zorus Criswell in Buckholts last Friday. Parma's telephone number is 104.
Mrs. Lizzie James House visits Cameron this week then travels to Milano and Hanover before returning to Rosebud. She left Wednesday afternoon and plans a week away visiting relatives. Parma advertises 4 ounces of spice for a dime, inviting rivals to beat the deal.
High water in Oklahoma and many bridges out in New Mexico and Arizona make extended trips inadvisable. Some Texas paths are fair or good, with cautions for washes along Milano area roads and misread signs causing confusion.
Mrs. Robert D. Wharton was wounded in the right thigh by an accidental shot through a window in Cameron on Monday night. Doctors removed the bullet the next day. a 38 caliber automatic pistol is suspected. No shooter identified as council prepares paving legislation for the business district.
Cameron authorities warn stray dogs will be shot if not confined after a rabies surge. The council plans vaccination orders and strict enforcement to stop dogs from running at large in the city.
Mrs. Walter Heap and family of Taylor visited Mrs. Fannie Pullian on Saturday along with A. C. Smith.
Secretary McBeth addressed the Temple Lions at a Bigbee House luncheon on fraternal matters. The Friday night meeting at 7:30 welcomed visitors and many members with two new applications from T. S. Henderson Jr. and W. S. Lamkin elected for membership.
Gus Moseley, 17, was killed near Hanover when 12 year old Eli Rogers discharged a borrowed shotgun as Moseley approached the Rogers home. The sheriff and Justice J M Ralston ruled accidental death. funeral held in Milano.
