Texas State banks closed September 14 reported by Banking Commissioner J L Chapman with loans down about 8 percent from June 30 but cash and exchanges up about 100 percent. Deposits rose more than 39 million to 255.77 million. Total resources and liabilities stood at 837.37 million, up 25.54 million from June.
Navasota on October 14 began a 250000 city improvement project including a storm sewer system and about 80000 square yards of concrete paving. Smith Brothers Inc. leads a large crew with more workers to join as sewer work progresses and paving follows.
An advertisement touts Calotabs as a purified non nauseating calomel tablet. One tablet at bedtime with water promises a good night’s sleep, no taste or griping, and a cleansed system by morning. Available in sealed packages 35 cents large and 10 cents small with druggist refund guarantee.
The article notes plans to complete an existing contract and release funds for substantial paving work. Upon completion, Navasota is to become one of the best paved small cities in Texas, with improvements spanning business and residential areas.
