Wichway Maintenance To Begin January First
State Highway Department will take over maintenance of about 9 000 miles of unimproved Texas highways starting January 1 with a two division system. Divisions will cover 900 to 1050 miles each, using a gang and patrol approach with floating crews for heavy equipment and ditching. The move aims to preserve highway investment and ensure year round usability. The Texas Highway Association urges member support and renewed memberships to back broader funding and laws for a unified state system.
